

R. Richard “Dick” Boyd, 82 of New Concord passed away Sunday, July 16, 2017 at the Morrison House Hospice and Palliative Care of Zanesville. He was born September 21, 1934 in Keene, Ohio to the late Richard and Roberta (Stein) Boyd. Dick graduated from Coshocton High School class of 1952. On July 3, 1954 he married Judy (Macey) Boyd, who survives.
Dick was a member of the United States Navy serving in the Korean War from 1952 to 1956. He worked as a farmer and had a great love of animals especially horses and German shepherds. He spent many years pulling the horse trolley in Roscoe Village. He retired from the Coshocton Post office. He was a member of the Canal Lewisville United Methodist Church and was a Free Mason of the Masonic Club of Bolivar.
Dick is survived by his children, Bryon (Kim) Boyd of Fort Lauderdale, Fl., Connie (Jim) Hummell of New Concord and Donald (Helen) Boyd of Coshocton as well as nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and grandchild, Chad Selby.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2017 from 6pm to 8pm and one hour prior to the funeral service at Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home. The funeral service will take place on Friday, July 21, 2017 at 11:00am at the funeral home with Pastor Wesley George officiating. Burial will follow at South Lawn Cemetery with the Coshocton County Veterans Honor Guard performing military honors.
