For we talked on the phone at least monthly, I miss him.

Niece. For years we talked on the phone often.  I learned of his passing recently.

What a gracious man he was, always with his sunny smile, never bypassing anyone.  I thanked him for being so thoughtful and he took my hand and said, "You will always be family."  What warmth I felt.  Later we would see him at various events and we would ask him how he was doing.  He would respond, "still ticking" with a gesture to his heart.
Today we are all with ticking hearts for him.  God bless.
