I am saddened to hear of George’s passing. Throughout our youth his family and mine were very close, sharing holiday dinners and regular visits. I recall long drives in the 1950s out to Santa Ana with my parents amid the fragrant smell of orange groves along the way there. Our parents were both Viennese refugees and we were connected through our shared relatives,  our uncle Fritz was the brother of George’s mother Lilly.  After her death we just drifted apart, my wife Fredi I having moved north to Berkeley. Still, I recall hosting daughter Melanie here as she was an entering freshman at nearby St Mary’s College. My thoughts are with Melanie, Darin and Judy at this deeply sad moment  May his memory be a blessing.

Judy, my beloved friend, Melanie and Darin.  George was quiet and inobtrusive  but might be thought of as a hidden treasure.  I am so grateful to have been a part of the Schnitzer family events for so many years.  George left the world a better place than he found it, inspired by the love for his family.  George, save me a front row seat at the doo-wop concerts you are arranging in the hereafter!

Darin, Melanie, Judy, and family; my sincere condolences on your loss. Mr. Schnitzer was so kind and funny, and even though he was quiet, there was always a joke or silly comment hiding under his breath. I remember fondly listening to his doo-wop music and riding around in his awesome Karmann-Ghia! I hope you continue to share memories of him often, and you are all in my thoughts.
