Gerald's mom Bea always wore jeans rolled up to her knees. Once there was a meeting for mothers at our grammar school, Marvin Avenue which Bea planned to attend.  Gerald said
    "Mother will you please wear a dress."
    "Yes, Gerald. I'll wear a dress." Not sure, Gerald repeated the request. Most women wore dresses than. Cir. early 1950's


One time Gerald, maybe eight years old at the most, sat down in the street and grabbed onto the bumper of a Helms bakery truck. It started to move and Gerald let out a screech. His dad Fred came flying out of the house and several neighbors yelled for the truck to stop. Gerald was retrieved with a bloody tush and rushed back home. We lived two doors from each other.
