My condolence's to the family., I was a patient of hers, I heard about her passing a few weeks ago.  Something told me to look for her name today and here I am.  I just want to say that she was the coolest, an amazing human that touched my heart with her kind words. Always made me feel comfortable as if I known her for years. May you rest in heaven Jessica 😢 🙏

I just learned of Dr. Duran’s passing today and I am here with a heavy heart. Although I don’t know her family, I know she spoke of her boys. We were patients of hers. She became very special to us. I am in shock still. I was hoping she was still on leave receiving treatment. I had no idea… so young. May she rest in paradise and May her family continue find strength. 

I recall one occasion when I got to stay in Truckee. We headed to the mall in Reno with your mom. I remember I loved visiting your house in Truckee and thinking it was so cool having a two story house. I remember playing in your room and you showed me your candle collection. So cool! I remember going to Park Lane Mall. We ended the evening by going to Boomtown playing at the arcade. We laughed so hard from the game they had called Big Bertha. Hermana Bertha didn’t seem to fond of the game. 

A few years back we reconnected through social media again. I remember I asked you a few questions regarding an eye condition I have and I remember you guiding me through the process. We talked about meeting up but realized Costa Mesa was slightly farther. That is when you recommended Dr Plett. I met with her and I remember finally feeling like I was actually getting some much needed help. I finally found relief when I got my new prescription and contacts because for my wedding I was able to wear my contacts and thoroughly enjoy my special day. Not only was I able to see when I got the new glasses but even now, I am able to see things differently through a new perspective. I admire you as a mother, wife, daughter and sister. You have impacted my life in more ways than one. You helped me see the beauty in our struggles. 

 I don’t know exactly how these past few years played out for you but thank you for being an example of what a true warrior is until the very end. 

Your boys are blessed to have had you as their 
mama. They will see the amazing mom, wife, sister, daughter and friend you were to so many people!

My condolences to the Duran & Hurd family. Praying Gods strength and comfort during this difficult time. 

Jess, every time I see my glasses I will think of you and recall these fond memories I have of you.

I personally recall a few memories from our childhood. Like the moment you, Tony and I had to practice a song to sing at my parents house. I didn’t want to participate. Being the sassy child I was, my mom wasn’t thrilled with my behavior and as a result I got the cuchara. On the first cucharaso that darn cuchara broke. I remember the look on your face was priceless and although I didn’t want to continue practicing, we recalled that incident several times after that while you would tell me not to make la hermana Susana upset. 

I remember our bike rides around the block, running across the street to the schools playground and playing at the jungle gym while your dad ran around the lot and we played house. I remember picking the berries and leaves from the trees and your dad would tell us not to grab them but as he would cut the corner we would run and see who would grab enough to add into our soups. 

I remember when I needed an insect for a school project and we both looked at each other and had Tony grab a pincher bug from your parents back yard then realized it was already dead. Or how about the time we tried wrestling with Tony while WWE would be playing on TV.  I also recall when we got in trouble while there was a service being held at your house. All the kids were being rowdy and had the lights on and off and your white canopy bed post broke. Remember when you showed me your pills/vitamins you’d toss behind your bed? I definitely tried that too! 

I remember when we both had braces and how much we disliked not being able to eat much of anything because you know, braces sucked! 

I remember the children's services when we would wear matching outfits and pretended to be sisters.

I will never forget being around the camp fire when we were kids and hearing Jessica say her jokes. We did karate together. We rode bikes together. We were always trying to figure why Namaan and Tony were always fighting. Lol. We had a good time as kids. The thing that I will always remember is how Jessica was a genuine amazing human being. I will miss her and I thank God for the privilege of having been a part of her life. 

I love and miss you. Thank you for being so much more than just my prima. I loved creating dr eye beauty with you and having our optometry bond. ♥️
