Lyle Hammerschlag

Lyle Adell Hammerschlag passed away March 30, 2014 in Costa Mesa. She was born in St. Joseph, MI and attended Michigan State University. Lyle met her husband Harvey at a restaurant where he was employed and she was feeding the jukebox. He saw her and sent out a roll of nickels to keep her there.

Lyle, Harvey, and their children Richard and Dawn, moved to California, finally settling in Costa Mesa in 1957 where she was employed by Pacific Bell and he in the aerospace industry. Lyle became active in Christ Lutheran Church and in activities that concerned her children She was President of the PTA and also was a den mother.

Besides her children Lyle is survived by her daughter-in-law Fatima, her son-in-law Neal Picone, grandchildren Jeffery and Amy Hamerschlag, and Jaqueline (Tyler) Picone.

Lyle’s funeral will be 11am April 7 at Christ Lutheran Church, 760 Victoria St, Costa Mesa, CA 92627There will be a viewing at the church an hour before the funeral.

Burial will be at Harbor Lawn – Mt Olive Memorial Park & Mortuary 1625 Gisler Avenue, Costa Mesa 92626. Following the burial there will be a reception at the Huntington Beach Elks Lodge, 7711 Talbert Ave. Huntington Beach 93648.
