The world lost an amazing man - Judge Klein.  Judge Klein was a loving husband and father, and an amazing friend and inspiration to many.  I was so blessed and fortunate for the gift of his friendship.  May his memory be eternal.  Chryseis Starros (DDA San Diego County)

I was one of the judges who hired Ross as a Commissioner for the Southeast Judicial District.  He was everything that a judicial officer should be and he was indeed a friend.  I'm going to miss him.  Our prayers and thoughts to his family.

First met Ross in 1993 while he was serving as a Public Defender (LA County Municipal Court, Huntington Park)
Our roles were, by definition, "adversarial." I was a policeman, he was a defender of the accused.

His calm, compassion, and gentle sense of humor erased any barriers (barriers that never existed!) between law enforcement and the Public Defenders office.

I visited Ross at his court room in Long Beach several months ago. He was gracious, and remembered every detail of our 25-year history. We chatted; as I left his courtroom I thanked him. 

He also had that knowing (cool) smile, essentially saying, "Everything is Okay..."

Rest in True Peace, Ross, and let that warm smile comfort all who knew thee...

I initially heard of the news the morning of his death. I was shocked. I had the pleasure and privilege to meet with Mr. Klein. I had short conversations with him in the court room and I will miss his cheery candor. I believe that Mr. Klein was remarkably fair with his courtrooms. I wish I could have learned from him. I wish that I could have presented him the opportunity to chat with him another day. I do appreciate the time spent in his courtroom watching him reason. As I said to him the last time I saw him, "take care, and have a nice holiday vacation!" Rest in peace Mr. Klein.

I was his secretary when he worked in the Norwalk Public Defender's Office back in the 90's.  He was a nice man, and funny too.  He will be missed.

I worked with Ross for many years as a colleague in the Long Beach Courthouse and have always viewed him as one of the best Judges and finest human beings I ever knew. His intellect and quick wit was unmatched and his knowledge of the law was encyclopedic. I enjoyed his company and his friendship and will miss him dearly.

Judge Klein was smart, good-natured and always good for a chuckle. His sense of humor; dare I say sarcasm, is not something frequently experienced in many courtrooms. Courtrooms, and the world would be a better place if we had more Judges, and people (not that judges aren't people) like Judge Klein. He will be missed by those fortunate enough to have known him.
