Arthur was born on January 10, 1937, in McLennan, Alberta, and was raised in High Prairie, where he developed strong family values and a love of the outdoors.
Known to all as Al, he began his military career in 1955 and proudly served for 33 years in the Royal Canadian Air Force as an Aero Engine Technician. His service took him across Canada and around the world, allowing him to experience many places and meet lifelong friends along the way.
Nova Scotia was his first posting, where he met and married the love of his life, Edna Mae Robar. Together, they shared 64 wonderful years of marriage, with five children to prove it.
Al felt most at home in the great outdoors. He treasured countless days spent hunting and fishing with family and friends.
Al was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Family was at the centre of his life, and he took great pride in every generation that followed him.
Al was predeceased by his beloved wife, Edna Mae; his son, Robert; his mother and father, Margaret and Donald; his sister, Lynn; his brothers, Warren, Kenny, Laverne; son-in-law, Tom; and many other cherished relatives.
He leaves behind his loving children: Debbie (Jimmy), Don (Sue), Janice, and Patty (Daryl). He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren Heather, April, Madeline, Scott, Beth, Ben, Courtney, Sam, Robert, Mathew, and Brett, and by his great-grandchildren Kaden, Katie, Emma, Logan, Lewis, Mylo, Georgia, Tess, Dani, Theo, Sullivan, Collin, and Brylee.
Al is also survived by his sisters Yvonne, Marlene, Jerry-Ann, and Jeanne, and his brother John, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Cumberland Lodge for their compassionate care and kindness during Al's stay.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Al's memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.
He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered always.
