He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 44 years, Leah; children Amie (Jeff), Joshua (Jasmine), Danielle (Bern); grandchildren: Micah, Claire, Lincoln, Gideon, Caedmon, Byron, Oliver; sisters Cathy and Grace (Lee) and brother Stephen (Rebecca) and numerous other family and friends.
David was predeceased by his parents, Gordon and Claudette, teenage daughter Stephanie, brother Paul and nephews Jonathan Hope and Lyle Luchak.
David grew up in a loving family in Toronto, Ont. He moved west to Alberta in 1975 to serve his electrical Apprenticeship, which he completed in 1979. David loved his work and excelled at it. He met his wife Leah in 1976 while serving as a Camp Counsellor at Camp Okotoks, Okotoks, AB. David and Leah were married in 1978 in Calgary, AB. They were blessed with 4 wonderful children. The family moved from Alberta to Fanny Bay, BC in November 1984.
David suffered significant health challenges as a very young man which followed him throughout his life. These challenges drove him to wrestle with God and his faith. He poured over the book of Job and was able to resonate with the words of Job, "My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you..." (Job 42:5). In his recent years David often declared to those around him, "this is how the Lord reveals Himself": "The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, "LEAPING" over (Dave's paraphrase) in love and faithfulness" (Exodus 34:6).
A Memorial will be held at 2 p.m., on Sunday, December 18, 2022 at Elim Bible Chapel 566-5th St, Courtenay, BC V9N 1K3.
The Family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at Island Health (Community Health Services) and staff of North Island Hospital (Comox Valley) for their care and compassion.
