Mom was born in Hemer, Germany, on December 31st, 1956, while her father, William, was serving in the Canadian Military. The family was later stationed in Esquimalt in 1960, where she spent her youth and early adult years.
She met the love of her life, Cliff, at a party in Victoria, and they married in 1979. Together, they moved to the Comox Valley in the early 1980s and started a family that became their pride and joy — three boys: Taylor, Rhys, and Leigh.
Dianne worked for School District 71 as a Special Needs Assistant for many years and often told her family she was meant to do that job. In her “retirement” years, she continued her passion for helping others by providing respite care, volunteering, and traveling as often as she could with her husband and friends.
Mom’s quick wit, compassion, and genuine kindness made her many friends throughout the Valley and everywhere she traveled — she truly could brighten up a room.
Dianne will be deeply missed by her husband of 45 years, Cliff; her sons Taylor (Cassy), Rhys (Nicki), and Leigh (Kelsey); her grandchildren (Haylie, Benjamin, and Kali); brothers- and sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
The family would like to thank the amazing doctors, nurses, and staff at Courtenay Medical Clinic especially Dr. Tanja Daws, as well as everyone at the Comox Valley Hospice Society, for their kindness and care.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Y.A.N.A. Comox Valley, an organization close to Dianne’s heart. The family asks for privacy at this time as they grieve and navigate this difficult transition.
