Ed’s passing is deeply mourned by his eight children, thirteen grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. His relatives, friends, and associates will greatly miss his inspiration, wisdom, and sense of humour.
Born in Glasgow, Scotland, on December 12, 1929, Ed lived a life marked by dedication, courage, and compassion. He married Anna Kane on October 1, 1955, and together they built a beautiful life and family. In 1967, Ed and Anna made a courageous move from England to Vancouver with their seven children, where Ed established himself as a well-respected lawyer. They welcomed their eighth child on October 1, 1970.
On February 1st, 1973, Ed was appointed to the bench as the youngest judge in Canada. In 1982, he moved to the bench in Courtenay, where he played an instrumental role in the creation of the Community Justice Centre. His career was defined by integrity, fairness, and a deep commitment to justice.
May his soul, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice in memory of Ed would be greatly appreciated.
