Mom was born in Marchand, Manitoba where she married and raised her family until they moved to Winnipeg in 1966. She took night classes at Red River Community College, earning her Early Childhood Education diploma. Her career saw her serve as both Assistant Director and Director, but she ultimately chose to work directly with pre-school children, including some of her grandchildren and a great grandchild. Along the way, she established many cherished friendships with parents, co-workers and some of the children she cared for.
Outside of her work, she enjoyed playing guitar, singing, sewing, painting and spending time with family, including her sisters with whom she held a great bond. In 2009, she relocated to the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island where she enjoyed her retirement years surrounded by loved ones until her passing.
Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.
1 Thessalonians 4: 13, 14
“Dearest mom, this is not a goodbye, this is a thank you. Thank you for coming into our lives and giving us joy, thank you for loving us and receiving our love in return. Thank you for the memories we will cherish forever. But most of all, thank you for showing us that there will come a time when we can eventually let you go”.
