Johanna Brigid Ester Long (late of White Rock, BC and formerly of Inchicore and James’ Street, Dublin) passed away on October 26, 2025 unexpectedly after a short illness at Royal Columbian Hospital, New Westminster, BC.
Devoted mother of Adam and Jennifer, much loved sister of John, Pat, David and Gareth. She will be sadly missed by her loving family, daughter-in-law Tamara, cherished grandchildren Luke, Owen, Rowan and Scout, sisters in law, cousins, nephews, nieces, and their families, extended family and friends.
Joan was wonderful woman, kind, generous, and affectionate, who always had time for everyone. She was a true family woman, the heart of every gathering, inviting everyone to join in and making all feel included and loved. To many, she provided a space to be themselves, never judged, always accepted and she often stepped in to be a mother, friend, or confidant, whatever the person needed.
A dancing queen at heart, Joan loved a good boogie and a sing-song, and she could light up any room with her laughter and spirit. She was also a brilliant storyteller who loved sharing tales about her childhood in Ireland, her deep family roots, and the rich history of her homeland.
Joan’s warmth, joy, and love for life, and for the people around her, will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Our hearts are broken but filled with gratitude for the time we had with her and the love she shared so freely. May she rest in peace.
