This brings back many memories of John and I working and sharing a desk in the LCVI phisical ed office.

John and I shared an office for many years.  John helped me through some difficult times with good advice and insight.  We laughed together and some times argued with one another but through out we remained friends.  My condolences to the family 
John was a unique individual and will always be remembered as a good friend and teammate.

I worked beside John for most of both our careers at Lindsay Collegiate.  I learned much from him concerning handling work and handling students.  John was a mentor for me in many ways.  He rarely got upset with students, staff or administration, something I needed to establish early on.  He was encouraging, critical of some thing I did, and made working with him very enjoyable and worthwhile.

Dear Diane and family: I am so sorry for your loss.  John and I were classmates and walked to Lindsay Collegiate together hundreds of times from 1954-59.  He always had great energy, enthusiasm and a love of oranges! John Murray, Bob Newbigging, Jerry Ford, Joe McColl and Bruce MacAlpine were all  our classmates.  And I took my father's shirts to John's father's laundry on York St.  John called me "Sarge" as a drum sergeant in the cadet band, though he became commander of the whole regiment! I once drove him to Waterloo U. on my way to Western (before his UNB days); tho' had to send back his jacket which he left in the car! Though I last saw John on the football sidelines at LCI in the '90s, I can still recognize him in the photo.  A wonderful guy who has obviously left an indelible impression on so many. Peace!

As you know John and I were room-mates at UNB in both '64-'65 and '65-'66. Strangely paired, he was the oldest in the class and I the youngest. He was so important in my life as he provided a calm and steadying influence to a very young man. I well remember cold winter mornings pushing that green Sunbeam Alpine down Smythe Street hill in order to start it so we could make Meagher's 8 A.M. class. We had many adventures together and throughout no-one could ask  for a more unswervingly loyal friend. My only regret is that I couldn't give him one last big hug he so richly deserves and the tributes posted here clearly illustrate that I am not alone. 
My heart goes out to you and your extended family - he will be in my heart forever.

I have wonderful memories of Mr. Jung, having been coached by him, taught by him and best of all, getting to know him by hanging around all of you over the years.  I loved playing for Mr. Jung and loved his ribbing even more.  I can still hear him yelling across the court, all the while with a smile on his face.  I knew that all the ribbing was good natured and it was because he cared.  

I can't even imaging how difficult these days are, but I hope you take solace in the fact that Mr. Jung was loved and truly respected.  I'll be thinking of all of you,

Good morning Diane, Very sorry to hear of John's passing. I think the last time I saw you guys was when you were able to use the cottage I had rented for the summer - either 1972 or 73. I know you had an infant at the time. I have a lot of good memories of our time at UNB. As one of our class mates said "We all got along." I went to the 50th anniversary in 2017 and there were about 20+ of our class there. I have two sons who went to UNB and a daughter who went to St Thomas. I have been married to Sandra Phinney for 42 years and we live in Canaan, outside Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.  Sandra passes along her sympathies as well.

My earliest recollections of John is through the family business on York Street in Lindsay in the 1960's and visiting the shop from time to time with my parents, who held John's parents in high regard. Later our families' lives  intersected through our daughter's friendship, a variety of fitness and sports activities and Diane's therapeutic practice. It also must be acknowledged however, that despite their best efforts  with our tennis instruction, none of our family was successful in making the final cut to play at  Wimbledon.

Not having seen any of the family for years, I will take this manner of extending to Diane and her daughters the condolences of both Joanne and me on John's passing.  I realize, thinking about it now, that I met John - and Diane - over fifty years ago now when I joined the staff at LCVI where they were both already teaching under rather difficult circumstances.  Because we taught in different areas of the school and of the curriculum, John and I didn't see a great deal of each other but I cannot think of a time when he didn't have a smile on his face. 
 He was a very positive person and I think must have been a great person to have coaching and teaching physical education.   It's been a long time since we saw each other - we retired over twenty years ago - but I know he will be missed by his family and the circle of acquaintances he has enjoyed in recent years.

Mr Jung was my first high school basketball coach and Phys Ed teacher.  John nurtured my love for basketball which continues to this day.  Not to be a single sport athlete, I remember playing tennis with Greg Walling at Mr Jung’s Tennifarm, just outside of town.

I first met John at the Sunday Unity service in Comox, when I first moved to the Island in 2018. There are people in this world who, by their sheer presence alone, exude a beautiful aura of gentle peace. 

John was such a person in the physical. Even before I found out from  Diane that it was an affectionate nickname, the Smiling Buddha was my description of the man who so naturally held the hand of his wife after many decades of loving support.

Which is why, when I was seeking advice on how to have a successful long term marriage/partnership,  I called John. His humour and answer to my query were a perfect reflection of the man himself. 

His approach was effecyively simple. "You work at it every day. It is a practice of  recommitment, no matter what life challenges you with." 

Thank you, John. Your beautiful spirit continues to shine in this realm via the memories of your family, friends and extended community, coast to coast and beyond.

Lynne and I were sorry to hear of John's death.   When I entered Lindsay Collegiate as a student in grade 9, John had just graduated  from grade 13, and had left a reputation as a fine student, a wonderful athlete and an outstanding cadet. John was very proud of Lindsay Collegiate,  but prouder, I'm sure, of his family and everything they were accomplishing.

Mr. Jung was an amazing teacher.  He taught me phys. ed for grades 9, 10, and 11.   

I always felt I had a connection with Mr. Jung, because him and his wife bought a piano from my parents, prior to me starting at LCVI.  He remembered our family name.    I assume the piano was purchased for their daughters to learn how to play.  

He was definitely one of the teachers, that had a huge influence in our student life.   Rest in Peace Mr. Jung.

He was very proud of all his girls  and he explained to me many time that not only were his girls beautiful but smart too  I doubt I have met a more proud family man I am better for having him as my teacher and being able to work with him

Mr. Jung was always a delight, he wore a huge smile on his face and was a favourite teacher for so many.  I was lucky enough to get to spend extra time with him since he was my friends’ Dad, and for a while my neighbour. Mr. Jung always said hi to me in the hallways and would make me laugh. He tried to teach me tennis and shot hoops with me in my driveway.  My Dad has nice memories of John at the tenny farm playing a few games together. My sincere condolences to all of you from me and the rest of the Dietrich family. 

I am so saddened to hear of “Buddha” John’s passing.  May you find strength and comfort in the love and care of those whose thoughts and prayers surround you at this time.

Diane and Karen and Tanya and Kathy and Mary, our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.  We remember all the wonderful times that we had in Lindsay together.  The wonderful dinners and the Carol singing at Christmas and gardening in the summer.   So many memories that warm the heart.  

My sincere condolences to Dianne and family. My first encounter with John was in 1954 ,when we started grade 9 at L.C.I. We competed vigorously in track and field and somehow I usually came out second best. John was an academic and I was no competition there. John would never acknowledge his age,said the documents were lost during immigration. After seeing his Obit. I understand why He was so much more mature than a lot of us. In later years we would catch up at the grocery store or the Durham for brunch. I certainly enjoyed our chat time,and know he will be missed.

Mr. Jung was an inspirational teacher while I was at LCVI in the early 80s. I remember family dinners filled with laughter, great food, games and singing songs. Such great memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Sending my deepest love and prayers to the rest of the Jung family. 

My Dearest Diane & all your beautiful family we send you the biggest & warmest HUGS  with  heartfelt tears for the  loss of your Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and a Dear Friend.  Oh,  so many beautiful memories that we  have in our hearts for you all.   Too  many beautiful & fun memories to count and of course  all of John's incredible feasts.

 Diane, you & John are two of the  most Beautiful & Loving Reiki Masters around and your Love of  Reiki  energy will live on beyond.  

We will miss you Little Buddha and now you can let that Angel inside you Fly taking with you a BIG Circle of Love.

I have so many wonderful memories of John, our special Brother. He meant the world to so many people. Over the years John & Diane's home was always open to our family, the many Kozak siblings (Diane's) and of course Mom and Pops as John called them. Thank you for always being there!
John and Diane introduced me to tennis as a young girl where I spent many summers @ their farm and later lived while I attended college.
John was a great teacher and a lifelong learner as he loved to experience new places, people and life.
John I will miss your Warm Smile, BIG Hugs, Fine Cuisine and your Genuine Love.

I have very fond and funny memories about working with John and Diane during Christmas Hamper time at Unity Comox Valley.  He was always offering help and volunteering to do more and I enjoyed his stories of being inspired and feeling moved to do more.  A good man, a very good man. God bye John, hopefully I’ll see you in a Santa hat on the other side of the veil.

I was saddened to learn of Mr Jung’s passing .
As a student of John’s at LCVI , I was greatly supported in my athletic endeavours .
He was not only a great coach and mentor, but I always considered him my friend.
He took many of us under his wing and instructed us as to how to better ourselves as athletes.
On one occasion after tearing up my right ankle in a basketball game , John took the time to expertly tape it up so I could play in the next game.
That means a lot to a kid; means a lot to me right now.
He was a great guy.
I would like to express my sincere condolences to the Jung family .
Mr Jung may you RIP , and may God grant you travelling mercies home.

John was a well respected colleague always with a smile for everyone.  His dedication and commitment to sport, education and youth shone through in  his years of teaching both at LCVI and in the tennis community.

Dear Diane and family, John was such a lovely, cheerful person.   When I first came to a Unity service, he was one of the first to greet me and make me feel welcome. I know your grief and that of your family will be difficult.   He belongs to the stars now. (Carl Fagan said that we're the stuff that stars are made of.)

Dearest Diane and family, it was always a joy to visit your home and experience the quiet gentleness and joy of the Buddha in our midst.  His devotion and love for you, Diane and your family was obvious.   I remember him lovingly conjuring up delicious meals and sometimes special feasts I was happy to share.  When I think of the labyrinth he created with all the plants in your back yard at Tranquil Spirit, I know he would do everything to create beauty and bring you all joy.  

Love never dies.  May you feel the consolation of knowing he is near.   With love and sympathy and abundant blessings.
