Born in the Xinhui District of Jiangmen, Guangdong Province, China, he was a pre-teen when his family made the difficult journey to Canada to rejoin his father in Toronto. He later established a family of his own in Lindsay, ON, where he extended his devotion to his children and his passion for sport to the community's youth, serving as a teacher and coach at the Lindsay Collegiate & Vocational Institute and running tennis camps on the family farm. His final years were spent peacefully on Vancouver Island, breathing the ocean air.
John is predeceased by his father, Wah Sun (1976), mother, Jang Shee (2005), and sister, Kwong Yen (2016). His legacy of strength and steadiness is carried on by his dearly cherished wife, Diane, and beloved daughters, Karen (Sean), Tanya (Jonathan), Kathy (Chris), and Mary (Jon). A proud grandfather, he also leaves behind Zoe, Abby, Eddy, Taite, Malaya, Lily, and Isla with treasured memories of their Papa.
He is honoured and greatly missed by his many friends and relatives across Ontario, B.C., and beyond. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Condolences may be offered online at dignitymemorial.com.
