

It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of Joyce Audrey Town (Yorke) on the 1st of March 2024. At 2:15am she was released from this world to join her long time husband George, leaving behind 5 children and 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Born and raised in Winnipeg from 1937 until 2000. A stay-at-home mom who worked tirelessly to raise 5 children. She supported her husband and family with considerable compassion and understanding, resulting in a happy and healthy environment for all to thrive in. In 2000 she moved from the Winnipeg area with her husband to Courtenay, B.C. She continued supporting and working with her husband George to help with all the charity and community events they attended. Her pastimes were spent reading, completing crosswords and crafting stained glass. Joyce will be greatly missed by all that she crossed paths with and has left us with many great memories that we will cherish forever.
Joyce Town lived a life rich in love, dedication, and compassion. Born in Winnipeg in 1937, she embodied the values of hard work and family from an early age. Throughout her life, Joyce dedicated herself to nurturing her family as a devoted stay-at-home mom. She poured her heart and soul into raising her five children, infusing their home with warmth, laughter, and unwavering support. Joyce's love and understanding created a safe haven where her family could grow and thrive, laying the foundation for countless cherished memories that will endure for generations to come.
In 2000, Joyce embarked on a new chapter of her life when she and her beloved husband, George, made the decision to relocate to Courtenay, B.C. Their bond was unbreakable, and together they faced life's challenges with resilience and determination. In Courtenay, Joyce continued to embody the spirit of generosity and community that defined her character, actively participating in charity and community events alongside George. Their partnership was a beacon of love and unity, inspiring all who had the privilege of knowing them.
Beyond her role as a devoted wife and mother, Joyce found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a passion for reading, finding solace and inspiration within the pages of her favorite books. Her sharp mind and love of puzzles led her to enjoy completing crosswords, a pastime that brought her both challenge and satisfaction. Joyce also possessed a creative spirit, indulging in the art of crafting stained glass, where she found expression and fulfillment.
Joyce's presence touched the lives of all who knew her, leaving an indelible mark of love and kindness on the hearts of those she encountered. Her warm smile, gentle demeanor, and unwavering support will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of crossing paths with her. While we mourn her passing, we take comfort in knowing that Joyce's legacy of love and compassion will live on through the countless lives she touched. She leaves behind a treasure trove of memories that will forever be cherished and held dear in our hearts.
