Judith "Judy" Kay Louise Erickson

Having lived a full life, our Mom, Judy, passed peacefully away at the age of 87 in Campbell River, BC. She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Ann Kutzak, by her husband Harry in 2016, her daughter Laurel in 2014, and her daughter-in-law Pauline in 2023.

Mom is survived by her children Ron (Sachiko), Tracy, and Jody, by her grandchildren: Desmond, Desiree, Nathaniel, Theodore, Galvin, Ryan, Trevor and Myles. She was also blessed to have many great grandchildren and even great- great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Joan, sister Audrey (Brian), her brother Bob (Sue), and many nieces and nephews.

Mom was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Her early years were spent on the family farm in a community surrounded by numerous relatives. Mom's family then moved to Prince Albert where she completed her schooling. She then moved to Winnipeg, where she obtained her laboratory technician certification. Eventually, Mom and all of us kids made our way to Vancouver Island, initially living in Victoria, but finally settling in Campbell River where Mom met Harry. They married in 1969. Mom and Harry always lived in the vicinity of the Oyster River. Mom worked at the Campbell River Hospital lab before moving to Cumberland Hospital where she ended her career in 1992.

In 2022, Mom moved to Ironwood Place which soon became “home“. There, she enjoyed the company of her fellow residents and the kind care of staff, healthcare aids, and nurses. We are so appreciative of these people. We are also thankful for the care given to Mom by all of the nurses (especially Van and Breanna), doctors and staff in Campbell River Hospital during her final hours.

Mom was an avid gardener, a competitive scrabble player and loved to go to garage sale with her grandchildren (or anyone else who would join her!). Mom was a devout Jehovah’s Witness and found comfort in her faith that she would again see Harry, Laurel, Pauline, and our grand parents. A Memorial will be held for Mom at the Campbell River Kingdom Hall, planned for July 25.
