Born and raised in Hawkesbury, Ontario, Marion grew up on the family farm, a place she loved deeply and carried in her heart throughout her life.
Marion was predeceased by her parents, William and Teresa Fraser, and her brother Gordon Fraser.
She leaves behind her loving children, Greg, Jennifer, and Emily, as well as her son-in-law Bill and grandson Ben, all of whom she loved beyond measure.
Following in her mother’s footsteps, Marion pursued nursing, dedicating herself to caring for others with kindness and compassion. After completing her training, her adventurous spirit led her north to Fort Smith, Northwest Territories, where she worked in remote northern communities. Those years became some of the most memorable of her life. The independence, adventure, and experiences she found there helped shape the strong, capable, and compassionate woman her family knew and loved, and she carried those memories and stories with her throughout her life, always remembering those years with warmth, humour, and a sense of adventure.
It was during her time in the North that Marion met the man who would become her husband. They were married in Hawkesbury, Ontario, before welcoming their first child and eventually moving west in 1971. Life would eventually lead Marion to the Comox Valley, a place that quickly became home and where she would build the life she loved, raising her family surrounded by creativity, laughter, and love.
Marion was smart, funny, creative, and deeply nurturing. She loved her family fiercely and spent her life putting the needs of those she loved ahead of her own. Her children never doubted how deeply they were loved, supported, and cared for. She was always there, through every challenge, every joy, and every stage of life, offering strength, comfort, and unconditional love.
Her creativity was also deeply woven into who she was. Marion expressed that creative spirit through fabric art and quilting, creating beautiful quilts that reflected the same patience, care, and love she gave so freely to others. Through her hands she created not only beautiful things, but comfort, warmth, and lasting memories for her family.
Though her later years brought many challenges, Marion faced them with remarkable strength and resilience. The grace and endurance she showed through difficult times left a lasting impression on those who loved her most. In those years, her family came to understand even more deeply just how strong and extraordinary she truly was.
In keeping with Marion’s wishes, there will be no celebration of life. She will be laid to rest in the family plot beside her mother, father, and brother.
The loss of Marion leaves a space in the hearts of her family that can never truly be filled. To her children, she was not only their mother, but their comfort, their constant, and one of the greatest sources of love in their lives. They will miss her laughter, her stories, her quiet guidance, and the comfort of knowing she was always there.
She was deeply loved, admired beyond words, and will be missed more than words can ever say.
