In the early dawn hours of December 23, Mom passed away, peacefully, in her sleep. She was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, lived in Calgary, Alberta for many years and had lived in BC’s Comox Valley for ten years to be close to her daughters. She is survived by her Daughters Ruth-Anne (Rick), Joan (Neil), her Grandchildren, Julie, Wesley and Adam. Her Great Grandchildren, Jackson, Rowan and Hudson. She was the oldest in a family of six, predeceased by Bob and Audrey; survived by Gordon, John and Jean. Predeceased by her best friend, her Horse, Duke.
She was born into a farming family in Northern Saskatchewan and formed her love and respect for horses as a young girl. After high school she went to the University of Saskatchewan, Graduating in 1948 with a Degree in Household Science. The family moved to Calgary where she taught Home Economics in the Calgary School system for 30 years. In 1978, she went back to the University of Alberta, Edmonton, to attain her Masters of Science.
Upon her retirement, she decided to see the world. She was an avid traveller, with a great love of History, Archeology and Humanity. She filled her home with small travel mementos, something that would fit into her backpack and didn’t cost much. Her retention of facts was amazing, she was a great storyteller. She loved to sketch and paint and often went out on the Prairies to capture the perfect light.
We miss her, think of her everyday, but find solace in knowing she lived a good life.
At her request there will not be a service. She was cremated. We have put some of her ashes in Comox Bay, the remainder will be buried with her Father, Mother and Sister in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.
If you wish to remember her, please donate to a Charity of your choice.
