It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nong Yao Chang. Nong passed away in her Courtenay home on March 6th 2022. Her ancestral roots in Hainan China, Nong was born in Pak Lay, Laos, to Phou Khy Meng (Dad), and Houn Kheng Lane (Mom), and is survived by her children Anousone (Sunny), Anousack (Zack), and Anousith (Seth), and her grandchildren, Dustin, Nicholas, Koltin, Hayley, and Ryan.
A loving and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Nong was known for her hard-working nature, her kindness, and the way her smile lit up her whole face. It was through her daily demonstration of these traits, that she passed these life lessons on to her children and grandchildren. More than anything she loved to be with her family and friends and could always be counted on to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Nong always saw the best in everyone, and enjoyed learning from and cooperating with others who came into her life. Nong’s loving and forgiving nature as well as her commitment to others will continue through all who had the blessing to know her, especially her family.
A Funeral Service for Nong Yao Chang will be held on Saturday, March 19th, 2022 at 1pm Piercy’s Mt. Washington Funeral Home (440 England Ave, Courtenay, BC V9N 2N1), followed by A Celebration of Life 3pm at Native Sons Hall (360 Cliffe Ave, Courtenay, BC V9N 2H9).
