Phyllis was born to Stanley and Balbina Dube of Poland November 2, 1929 in Nipawin Saskatchewan. She was the first of her 5 siblings to be born in Canada. The family immigrated to Rural Saskatchewan from Poland where Phyllis grew up on a farm and learned the value of hard work. She was fond of telling her Grandchildren that she could outwork them any day. This was proven true on many occasions! After marrying in 1946 Phyllis moved from Nipawin to the Comox Valley in 1947 where she raised her two children Sharon and Dwight, creating a home for her own family as well as many children around Merville. She often had extras at the dinner table and treated them all like family. Her home was always immaculately clean despite the volume of people coming and going, nary a speck of dust nor a spider would dare to settle in her house. Phyllis was a strong and independent woman. She had a quick wit and enjoyed worldly conversation or debate. She was incredibly generous with her time, love and support to family. Phyllis also had a love for Tiger Woods, cheering him on unfailingly, she played golf regularly herself though not quite as well as Tiger. Bowling and garage sale thrifting were other favoured hobbies. She kept beautiful gardens and was always offering her help in the gardens of family. Her house was tastefully filled with Collectables of many kinds as she loved all things pretty, shiny and sparkly.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, son Dwight, grandson Justin and many friends. She is survived by daughter Sharon, grandchildren Cheryl, Wes, Duane, Toni,
Darwin and their families as well as many nieces and nephews whom she stayed close to despite the long distance.
Phyllis wished not to have a public service.
