Shirley Ann Robb

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, friend, and cousin Shirley Ann Robb. Shirley passed away peacefully October 10, 2020 after a very courageous battle against pancreatic cancer. She was 68 years old. She passed away with her loving family by her side.

Shirley was born in Chilliwack on June 3, 1952 to her loving parents Irwin and Ellen MacGregor. It was during a forestry strike that Shirley arrived into this world. Her parent's friends often said they should name her strike. Shirley grew up in Rosedale and attended schools in both Rosedale and Chilliwack she was an A honour student and continued her academic achievements though her days at Fraser Valley College where she received a diploma in Social Work.

Shirley was equally talented at sports and was a natural at anything she tried. She won figure skating trophies and played on many sport teams in her youth. Fitness was a big part of her life well into adulthood. Shirley married her high school sweetheart Brian James Robb on May 28, 1971 this union was blessed with two sons Carson James Robb and Colin Rod Robb.

Shirley held many interesting jobs in her life from bank teller to working at an office supply store called Holder’s Stationary and after attaining her college diploma she worked for a number of years as a teacher's assistant in School District #33. Later on in her career she worked for the North Island Social Services, working alongside many clients who had special needs. She also worked in group homes and had such an open heart for these very wonderful people and she helped them all to find jobs in the community. She had great respect among her many peers.

Shirley and Brian moved around many locations in BC following Brian in his career as a Driller Blaster. They spent numerous years in Chilliwack and then Sicamous and finally settling in Campbell River for a number of years. After the loss of her beloved Brian in 2002 Shirley spent time living with her brother Gord sister Bev and her son Colin and during this time Shirley made a career change to become a Camp Cook due to her dear friend Lily. She spent time working in many remote locations in BC and on the beautiful west Coast. During this time, she also travelled the World. First, she visited Australia where spent months travelling that marvelous country with her niece Jessica and her father-in-law Jim Robb. Her next adventure led her to Costa Rica with her dear friend Jackie Fleenor. This is where she met her second husband Gregorio de Jesus Porras Gomez, they made their love official on April 15, 2006 and their love was so special that they remarried again on September 21, 2020, although they made a home in Costa Rica due to work Shirley and Greg returned to Campbell River four years ago. She has been a valued employee of Ben West Logging for a number of years.

Shirley is predeceased by her loving husband Brian James Robb, her father Irwin Stewart MacGregor her father in-law James Robb and her mother in-law Evelyn Bent Left to mourn is her loving husband Gregorio de Jesus Porras Gomez, her sons Carson James Robb and Colin Rod Robb her beautiful Grandchildren Brian Robb, Kyle Brayley, Cassandra Lee Robb, Issabelle Adora Robb Labelle, her mother Ellen MacGregor, Sister Barbara (James) Markle, brother Stewart (Diana) MacGregor, brother Gordon (Jacqueline) MacGregor, sister Beverley MacGregor (Jim) McIlwaine, brother Irwin (Angie) MacGregor and many loving family members in Costa Rica Edne M Gomez Gomez mother-in-law,Nixon Porras Gomez brother in law, Lidiette Porras Gomez sister in-law, Aracelly Porras Gomez sister in law, Estella Porras Gomez sister in law, Norma Porras Gomez sister in-law, Ellen Brown daughter in-law, Doween Porras grandson, Chawen Porras granddaughter, Blad Porras grandson, Christian Porras Garcia stepson, numerous nieces' nephews' aunts' uncles and cousins.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

Donations to a Community Living Center in your area would be greatly appreciated in Shirley’s memory.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Elena May for all the beautiful things you did for our Shirley during her palliative care you were an earth angel and brought such grace beauty love n humour to us all in her final days.

RIP in peace our beautiful Shirley. Until we meet again.
