Ginny graduated from John Steinbeck high school, Salinas California.
Shortly after graduation she enrolled at O’Connor School of Nursing, San Jose, California. After nursing school she was employed as a doctor’s assistant in Salinas. In April 1962, she was introduced by a friend in Canada to a Canadian Mountie, Len Jerritt, who was to travel through her hometown of Castroville, California soon. A romance ensued with Ginny travelling to BC to visit Len on two occasions. On her second visit and second proposal to Len, he accepted and the following year, on May 25, 1963, they were married in her hometown in California. She moved to Canada with Len to Kelowna, BC.
Ginny was a very adventurous person so her marriage to Len Jerritt was a very good fit. Two children, Leonard Jr. "Boomer" and Maria "Mia" were born in Kelowna before the family transferred to Whitehorse, Yukon. The following years they moved to Aklavik, NWT, Fort Laird, NWT and Fort Simpson, NWT when second daughter, Jodi Ann was born in Fort Smith, NWT hospital.
More moves followed to Surrey, BC, then Chetwynd, BC where a third daughter, Katheryn Patricia was born. Thereafter moves followed to Quesnel, BC, Calgary, AB, back to Whitehorse, Yukon and last move, Regina, SK.
In 1994, Ginny & Len retired to the Comox Valley to be close to their growing family. After 62 years of blissful and adventurous marriage, Ginny left the world leaving behind a loving husband, 4 children and their spouses plus 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Her body left but her spirit will endure forever.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring of 2026 in their hometown of Courtenay, BC.
