Born on December 22, 1996 in Saanichton, BC, Vivian’s early years were spent in Ucluelet, BC before moving to Comox, BC in 1998. A vivacious and preciouses’ girl, her childhood was spent with the simple pleasures of camping, beaches, skiing and horseback riding. She traveled extensively, including trips to Europe, Asia, America, Mexico and East Africa, where she took a great interest in the people, cities and countries that she experienced. Vivian loved animals with a long list of pets that included dogs, fish, rabbits, and her beloved Guinea Pig “Spock”. Most of all she enjoyed the time spent in the company of her friends and family. Having achieved her secondary education, she looked forward to a career in health care.
Vivian is survived by her parents, Angela and Glenn Westendorp, her sister, Serena Westendorp, her grandfather, Elwood Thompson, and an extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins. Vivian was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Ineke and Gerry Westendorp, her maternal grandmother, Franca Thompson, her uncles, Jerry Westendorp and Jim Hirt and her aunt Jane Hirt.
The family wishes to thank the Police, Emergency Response, Doctors and Nurses who worked so hard to deliver Vivian alive from the motor vehicle accident that claimed her life. We would also like to thank the countless family members and friends whose flowers, meals, well wishes and prayers have helped us through this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers we have set up a bursary in Vivian’s name at NIC in Courtenay which can be access through the following link using a drop down tab:
