Wilhelmina Marion Cucheran died suddenly on December 18, 2025, in Courtenay, B.C. at the age of 59. Born in Vegreville, AB. Willow travelled across Canada but spent most of her life near family on Vancouver Island. She was an incredibly sensitive and empathetic woman and this showed with her work in the community she loved at the Salvation Army Cornerstone Community Centre in Courtenay. Willow was a lifelong animal lover who was devoted to her pets, and particularly her dog Bullet. Willow had one son, Jonathon, who she raised on her own, and had settled in the Comox Valley before being taken much too soon. She loved relaxing and spending time with friends and family, and her humour and enthusiasm were infectious. She Pre-deceased by her Father John Cochrane (Cucheran) Mother Verna Macklin, Stepfather Tom Macklin, and Brother David Cochrane. She is survived by her siblings John (Herbert) Cucheran, Evelyn Ledgister, Laurie Parkin, Bob Cochrane, and her Son Jonathon West. The world is better for having had Willow and lesser in her absence. She is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by many.
A Celebration of Life will be held the Salvation Army Courtenay Community Church, #9 – 468 29th St., Courtenay, BC, on February 7, 2026 at 1:00 PM, and at St. Mary’s Soda Lake Cemetery on June 6, 2026.
