OBITUARY
Carol Anne Hepburn
19 August, 1947 – 2 April, 2021
Carol passed away at home on April 2, 2021. Incredible mom to Amy Paradine (Philip) and Sara Forbes (John). The most fantastic Grandma to Alexandria, Lucy and Logan. Will be missed and remembered by David and Annie Hepburn, and her siblings Richard, Wendy and Ken. Carol was a special person to many family and friends. Carol meant the world to her family and they will miss her forever.
Anyone who knew Carol knew her kids and grandkids were the centre of her world. Carol, Amy and Sara spent years making memories together and she was always their biggest advocate and cheerleader (even when they both took turns giving her gray hair). Carol was an amazing grandparent; both a true partner in crime and confidant to her grandkids.
She insisted on not “having a fuss” made of her when she passed but really hoped those who knew her would remember her after she was gone by telling stories, hugging family, getting ice cream and finding fun adventures with loved ones. At her request, a small family gathering will be held as soon as possible, where the family will dress in bright colours and reminisce about happy times, of which there are many.
Condolences, fond memories and tributes are appreciated by the family and can be added to through the Courtice Funeral Chapel site. Should you wish to make a donation in honour of Carol, please consider donating to Sick Kids Hospital (Alex and Lucy’s choice) or Jump Start (Logan’s choice). Carol supported both these charities and they meant a lot to her and the family.

We have so many memories of Carol and her two girls, Amy and Sara. Alex had a special bond with Carol as they started their first job in teaching, together. Later we got to know her extended family.
Something that stands out for me is Carol’s sense of humour - always there, throughout !
We miss you, Carol,
love, Alex and Marg

I often think how fortuitous it was that my parents bought their first home right next door to the Hepburn girls, a twist of fate that led old teaching buddies bond their families together for generations. I’m so sorry for your tremendous loss. Much love to Amy and Sara and your families. Your mom raised two of the most amazing women. I’ll always treasure the memories and will always be grateful to have had such an amazing person in my life.

I am very sorry about the loss of Aunt Carol. She was such a funny and caring person. It was obvious in everything she did just how much she loved her kids and grandkids. She will be missed by everyone who knew her. Her love of family even extended to watching my youngest play hockey and cheering him on (even when cheering against her home town of Courtice). She had a great sense of humour and I know that it will be carried on by her children and grandchildren (especially Logan!). We are deeply sorry for your loss and know that Carol will live on in the lives of those she touched.

I taught with Carol for 5 years at Leslie McFarlane and then as a SERT with her as a Facilitator.
Carol was firstly a proud Mom of Amy and Sara and a wonderful advocate for all kids but especially those with special needs.
Her sense of humour, sincerity and strong ethics are something I will remember forever. Be proud girls of your Mom.....she left her mark.

I had the pleasure of meeting Carol several times over the past few years. She was always kind and laughed at my jokes. In my books that makes her tops! I know what an important person she was to you all and her lasting impact will be her children and grandchildren. Her spirit will continue to shine through all of you making the world a brighter and kinder place. She was a smart woman. After all, what problem can’t be solved with an ice cream?
Much love and light to you, Sarah, Amy and the whole family. Thinking of you all. xoxo

Carol was a dedicated grandmother who picked up her granddaughter from my kindergarten class. She was a caring and intelligent woman who conducted herself with the upmost integrity. She was a treasure to her family, and no doubt has left a most positive imprint on each of their lives.

Carol and I taught together at McFarlane PS. I taught both of her children. There was never a day where the needs of her students weren’t top of mind. She made me a better teacher, mother and friend with her selfless approach to life. I will miss sharing family stories and her encouragement and support. Carol always found the good in people and could put a positive spin on difficult situations. I will miss her terribly but carry her in my heart. Rest In Peace dear friend! ❤️

Where do I start? Carol was my big sister. She was 9 years older and took care of me when I was only 10 and my parents were in a horrible accident. She took care of me when I hit my teens, once taking me to the hospital because I broke my nose doing a handstand on an upside down garbage can. She called my parents and told them I was staying at her place to go to Dairy Queen. We used to dance together into the wee hours of the morning to the tune of Sunrise, Sunset. We shared sundaes as big as a brandy snifter at Ho Jo's which was the old Howard Johnson.
Poor Amy, from the time she was a toddler, every time my sister was stressed or irked at anyone, she called Amy, WENDY.
She loved her girls and her grandchildren and myself with a love that was unconditional. We all loved her back the same way. RIP big sister, I will see you on the other side.

I would like to extend my heartfelt sympathy to the family. I always remember Carol being so kind and talkative at the school. It was nice to have a friendly face when I was dropping off Hattie. It’s funny because every time I was at the mall I would run into her shopping for the grandkids. We’d have a quick talk and she was always so kind. I didn’t know her very well but I always enjoyed running into her. I could tell that her family meant everything to her and that kindness was something that came naturally. Rest In Peace Carol .
