Dear Monica and All Family;

I just very recently heard of David's death. To say that it "rocked me" and saddened me would be a massive understatement.
It seems a lifetime ago that I first met David. As a beginning teacher who loved his new career, David was one of the first to formally ( and informally), tell me what a great educator I was.( I still have his written review when he was my V.P.!)
We became friends too...even went to (your)amazing wedding...
I have been retired almost 5 years but David showed up at my classroom door at Terry Fox P.S. about a decade or so ago and boy did he get a hello and a hug.
I have said for many years that education has just always needed people that were "people persons". That is what David was.
A great person "to boot" in all other capacities as far as I can remember.
I hope this makes it to you (someone)... especially (you)Monica .

My Sincerest Sympathies,
Jay

To David's family,
I am truly sorry to hear of your sudden loss. David was a kind man and a good colleague to work with at UOIT. We worked together for seven years, sharing course planning, instructional materials and committee work. It's easy to understand why David was well liked by students and faculty. He definitely made a difference in the lives of many people and I am saddened to hear that he is gone.

Dear Monica, Spencer, Mackenzie and Joyce,

We just heard of your loss. I am writing to you to offer the Carman family's (Barbara, Cathy and Lydia) condolences .

David was Mike Carman's dear friend from childhood and also an usher at our wedding. I know Mike would have wanted me to reach out to you at this time with thoughts and prayers to help you through your loss. I greatly appreciated David's kindness after Michael's death.

Sincerely
Cathy Carman

I had the absolute pleasure of working with David for a few years back in 2008. He was always very kind and cheerful and had a great sense of humor. I was sad to read today that he has passed away. I hope his family takes comfort in the fact that he was loved at UOIT by the students, faculty and staff. Rest in peace, David. You will be missed.

As a principal colleague, I quite enjoyed working with Dave. He was supportive and generous with his time and advice. I learned a great deal from his experiences, his insight and his joy of life. And what sense of humour! My thoughts and prayers are extended to David's family and loved ones.

David was my VP at Dr. Hawkins PS in Port Hope. He was such a great guy, lots of fun and an awesome educator-the kind of guy you always wanted to do your best for. Had lots of great parties and were honoured to attend his and Monica’s wedding on the Oriole Boat touring Toronto Harbour. Best wedding ever. Very sad and shocked to hear of David’s sudden death. Please know that our thoughts are with you and your family,
Monica.
Love,

David was part of the UOIT Faculty of Education community for the past 12 years. He was a supportive, kind, and caring colleague and instructor/teacher candidate supervisor. He touched the lives of many, and his spirit will live on his teacher candidates and in their K-12 students. You will be missed, David.

We knew and enjoyed Dave’s company through Barbershop singing and Church and Choir work. We remember lots of quartet singing , and he was an awesome Barbershop chorus Director. He was always eager to share his musical expertise with church music too. We will remember Dave as smart, caring, friendly, helpful........he was a good man! We are so sorry to hear of his passing.

David Gray and I met in 1984 at Waverley Public School. Soon after we both went on to become principals in Kawartha Pine Ridge and worked together in the Clarke Family of Schools. In 1995, I transferred from The Pines Senior School and David succeed me as principal. In 2006, David and I were both hired at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) where we have worked together for the last 12 years. David was both a Sessional Instructor and Faculty Advisors at UOIT. He guided and mentored many Teacher Candidates often providing support as they took on their first teaching positions. One Teacher Candidate wrote to me this week saying “David was a true mentor in every single aspect of the word”. David’s passing leaves a big gap in the Faculty of Education and UOIT - he will be great missed by Faculty and students.
