Dear Don Greenwood I am sorry to hear of your passing. I was a student of yours during my time at g.l. Roberts. You were very kind to me and always helped out when I needed it. You helped me fix my computer and loaded it with tons of fun games and software to enjoy. I remember coming to your home with my friend David Michaud to do some yard work, you paid us very well. I have been curious about you off and on thought the years and tried to find you on Facebook. I was actually trying to reach out to Don to tell him about how my life has gone before I found this obituary. To Don's family and friends i am sorry for your loss , he was a very good man . Rip Don greenwood, I hope your watching over us !

Dear Don,

I was a student when you and I met. You led a support group for children of troubled home lives. My parents were in crisis, and you helped me through that great challenge.

We became good friends. You shared wisdom, insight, and were a brother in the Lord.

Only recently, after returning to Ontario, did I learn of your passing. While saddened by your departure, I am grateful to have known you for so many years. You made a difference in my life in so many ways. You will always be remembered.

May God bless you, keep you and your family, and may we meet again someday.

 With love, David.

We loved Don greatly. We met Don and Evi at a Christian Conference in Pennsylvania and were able to keep in touch now and then along the way. The words of Jesus when he saw Nathaniel, would go far to describe brother Don - “a true Israelite without guile”. He was a wonderful man and a true Christian. Both a scholar and a gentleman. Don spoke of wanting to become more ministry oriented after his retirement, and we hoped to be able to join together with him in doing so. His newsletter always had thoughtful insights and he would give away what he had to bless others without giving it a second thought. You were a fine warrior in the Lord, Don, and will be missed. Will see you again at the great supper in the Kingdom!

With condolences,
Victor & Sarah

Dr. Greenwood was a man larger than life. He spent every day helping everyone he could, often going well out of his way to do so. He planted seeds of God and love every when he went. I should know as he helped me greatly and was a keystone in my life. I regret not seeing him as much as I could or should have and I will suffer for that. I am very grateful for the many times he spent with me and will cherish them till the day I die and beyond. Goodbye Don, my brother in Christ.

Hello Evi, Miriam, Paul and family

So sorry that I was not able to join you today for the celebration of Don's life. I always looked forward to chatting with him at the Greenwood family reunion. He particularly enjoyed the 2025 reunion as he was in charge of name tags and as a result chatted with many more peole that he might have most years.

I'm sure all of you are thankful for the life that Don lived and how he enriched all of your lives.

My family and I have been saddened by the great loss of Brother Don Greenwood. As my sunday school teacher to an amazing God fearing man, I have nothing but great memories of his kindness, wisdom and generosity towards me. He supported me and my family with such love through the years that will never be forgotten. He was like a father figure to me and showed me what actually a Christian would be in the world with his actions and words. My condolences to Evi, Miriam and family.

Dear Evi & Family

We will never understand Gods plans here, but someday all will be revealed. His way is always best, He knows why He took him so young. We will definitely miss his smile, and his gentle manner. He loved God..and was a Friend to all who needed Friendship. God bless you all....you're in our prayers. He was a Good Man and definitely be missed esp at the Prayer Meetings Thurs nights. Enjoy your new Home Don. Love & Prayers.... Ted & Heather

I am very saddened to hear of Don Greenwood's passing. He was a very kind, generous man, who loved the Lord passionately. His days were spent helping people and sharing the Gospel, hoping to bring as many people as he could to the Lord. Don, through his work as a psychologist in the school boards, volunteered his time to helping my son, who is on the autism spectrum. Not only did he help my son but my son's friend as well. I learned that he spent his last day on earth running around helping his family, bring groceries to his daughter's house and delivering his grandson's project to school. You were taken from us much too soon. I will miss you , a bright light in a dark world.

In Loving Memory of Dr. Don Greenwood

We were deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Dr. Don Greenwood. He was a generous man who inspired our family to grow closer to God and to live with kindness and gratitude.

Dr. Greenwood had a wonderful sense of humour and a true passion for sharing what he knew — whether it was about scripture, health, or life. We always enjoyed our lunch get-togethers at Mandarin, filled with laughter, good stories, and thoughtful conversation.

He was caring, sincere, and always willing to help others. Dr. Greenwood had a special way of connecting with young people and guiding them to think deeply and believe in themselves. He truly made a lasting impression on both Vincent and Ryan.

We’ll always remember his warmth, his wisdom, and his kindness. He gave so much of himself to others, and his light will continue to shine in the hearts of everyone he touched.

With love,
The Arff Family: Dietmar, Sandra, Vincent, & Ryan

Dear Don!
Elaine and I would like to let you know that we will miss your sweet smile, and great encouraging words. Your presence will be greatly missed at our prayer meetings. We know that we would like to have you stay longer with us, but God knows that your work here is done, and it was time for you to take your rest, so please rest well.

Ken and I are stunned and saddened to hear this news. Don was our psychology professor at Richmond College back in the 70's. He was known for his dry sense of humour and sheepish grin. He did his best to make "Behaviour Modification" interesting. Ironically, Linda taught the same course at Richmond 6 years later, drawing on Don's wit and wisdom. We are going to miss all the news items and alternative health articles that Don shared almost daily. We have subscribed to those websites ourselves since we are "on the same page". We will also miss the memes, funny sayings, blooper signs, and fun trivia he sent our way. In the last few years we were colleagues, but most of all we were friends. We will miss you, Friend, but we have the Blessed Assurance that we will meet again Beyond the Sunset in The Sweet Bye and Bye. See you then, Ken and Linda Marek

We were terribly saddened to hear the news of Don’s passing. He certainly will be missed from his multiple daily emails sent to extensive health knowledge and just overall kindness. He was a tremendous help to our family in providing information on health related concerns over the last few years. One of our fondest memories was when we helped Don and family move their family home many years ago and my father (Phil) managed to pack the entire three bedroom house in a small cube van with only a few lamps and nick nacks left behind for a very large box truck that showed up late. Our condolences to the Greenwood family, a great man has become an Angel and our thoughts and prayers are with you all!
Love the Villari Family Philip, Jason & Teresa and children.

May the Lord comfort you as you go through this difficult time. Praying for you Mrs. Greenwood.

Don was always doing for others. He made sure people were notified of things and shared emails and information. He always watched out for my mom, especially since Dad passed. Every Thursday I would get her to prayer meeting and a year or so ago he would walk her home every time. Then when it moved farther away he or another member of the group would drive her home and make sure she got inside safely. Such a comfort to know someone like Don was looking out for her. Thank you Don!

Don was such a lovely man. Every Thursday my Mom and often Don would go to Thursday prayer meeting at Trinity. Mom could no longer walk home on her own and Don faithfully either walked or drove her home. As she passed just before Don, maybe she met him at the pearly gates.

I have fond memories of Brother Don.as a friend Also he was a great talented musician. When I was in the music business he nought a Martin dreadnaught guitar. from me...and he also had a great style with his banjo playing... I recall that he received the Queen's Award one year for his work with youth programs. His lfe was a wonderful Christian example to everyone . He will be missed by all

My condolences to Eva, Miriam Paul and family, I am so sorry for your loss. I will always remember Don not just for his words, but for how he lived them. He was a true mentor to me.Don’s life was a testament to his faith. He wasn't just a good man; he was a true man of God, and I am forever grateful for his friendship and his mentorship. The seeds he planted in my life will continue to bear fruit. I will miss you, Don, my friend and guide.

My condolences to
Evi Mariam Paul and family

Don was a big part of my life growing up even today as I sit here trying to find words to say about Don Greenwood who was a second father and how blessed I was to have.

Don taught me how to swim at Bendale school pool and how to drive standard VW Jetta Diesel he baught from Owasco Volkswagen in Whitby, went to Bendale learned to drive stick shift with his Jetta in the parking lot.

Don Loved trains, was a big hobby enthusiast and setting up a train set in his basement and take me to train shows.

He took us to Sault Ste. Marie to the Algoma Central Railway, took a train ride in the Algoma Central Railway.

Went to Camp Mini-Yo-We Cristian camp which I which I had the time of my life.

I love you Don and will miss our chats for the time being.

We will meet up again.

I knew Don for over 70 years.
Along with his brother Dave, we got involved in the emerging folk music scene and, through Don’s efforts, the three of us went to see The Weavers and sat in the second row of First Unitarian Church where Pete Seeger gave a concert.
Don became a good banjo player and had a very good collection of instruments.
Judy and I give our heartfelt condolences to the family.

Dear Evi, Miriam, Paul and family,
I was greatly saddened to hear about the passing of my dear friend, Don. He was a wonderful man, and always a caring and kind soul with so much wisdom to share. Don was passionate about living. He walked briskly, spoke wisely, and shared so much as a diligent human being. I’ll miss having lunch with Don. He always said that my selection of foods needed to be colourful. He was a fine psychologist, admired and greatly respected by myself and many others. He was a devout Christian and a fine gentleman who respected the dignity of others. He valued and loved his family. He was a humble man who spoke his truth.
It was a pleasure to share my thoughts about Don with his family and friends.

I am truly saddened to hear of Don's passing. I send heartfelt sympathies to his family. I came to know Don as a colleague within Psychological Services at the DDSB. He was always willing to listen, to offer support and to share his knowledge and detailed notes. Don and I sat nearby in the office, and this is where we shared many chats and where I got to know Don as a thoughtful, caring and kind man with a quiet sense of humor. May Don rest in peace.

With love, we celebrate the life of Dr. Don Greenwood. He and Evi quietly and generously sponsored my brother and I to attend Christian summer camp for multiple summers, a gift that drew us closer to both God and each other. Pictured here on his 70th birthday, he radiated that same joy and positive energy that he inspired in others. We miss him dearly, forever and always.

Don helped us understand our son's learning styles with detail and kindness. The kids enjoyed chatting with him and felt supported. He particularly connected with my middle son and sharing copies of Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe with him. I am sorry for your loss. Don, was kind and thoughtful and he will be missed.

I am sorry to hear of Don's passing. Please accept my condolences. I always enjoyed his dry wit and winning smile.

We are saddened by the passing of Dr. Greenwood, a wonderful psychologist and a kind, generous person.

Dr. Greenwood is a special psychologist to me and my children. He inspired them, encouraged them to think, grow, and believe in themselves. My children were lucky to work with him, and he made a big difference in their lives.

He was kind and giving. He would lend us books to read and share learning materials in USBs, to help our children learn even more. He was sincere, genuine, and always willing to help others.

Dr. Greenwood was also a faithful Christian, and he lived his faith every day through his kindness and care for others.

Though we are sad that he is no longer with us, we believe he is in heaven, smiling down at us. His memory and the good he did will stay with us always.

He will be truly missed.

Miriam, Paul and family, sending you love in this time of sorrow. May your faith provide you comfort in a loss of such magnitude and your warm memories provide you healing in the days, weeks and months ahead. ~The Patch Family.

Sad for the passing of Don, but happy for the lives he touched. I considered him a mentor in my teen years, from his guitar strumming, explaining physics and how the “Jetta” was the best car around. He rook me on my first airliner ride, a DC-10. He will be missed.

Don was a kind, and very genuine man.
He went out of his way to relate to reach out to and relate to other people. When he spoke with me, I always knew he was really listening.

He's with the Lord now, and we will see him again in Christ's presence.

My Condolences to Evi and family for your loss. I grew up with don and his brother david. Don was always very smart and would let his teachers know when they were wrong, which kept his mother very busy with school visitations. He even taught himself to play the banjo which I thought was amazing. He was always a good friend and enjoyed life.

Evie and family,
We are so very sad to hear of this news. My boys absolutely adored “Dr. Greenwood”! Each of them first met him in grade 3 (4 years apart) when he came to our home to assess them with the Weischler intelligence test.
His infectious love of learning, generosity in sending Creation magazine and overall interest in the boys well-being over the years I believe helped form who they are today (17. & 21).

Feeling pretty certain that Don is hearing, “well done, thy good and faithful servant!”-

Xo Pam, Dave, Jake & Drew Hollett

1 Thessalonians 4: 13 - 18

My sincere and loving condolences to Evi and the whole family. I have many fond memories of Don. The Lord used him when I was a child to plant seeds of faith that later on in life grew and are still developing to this day. If it hadn't been for his devotion and his love for the Lord in ministering to fatherless children like myself I'm not sure where I would be today. I'm sure the Lord has a crown for him for his labor of love in a sacrifice that he made. I will greatly miss him. I love you Don. Now you can have all your questions answered directly face to face with the One in whom you loved.

I had the pleasure of working with Don at the DDSB. He was a genuinely kind and compassionate individual. He playfully lectured me on the evils of sugar while simultaneously eating the cookies and cupcakes I brought to the office. He assessed both of my children through his private practice. He sent me countless research articles when I was struggling with an undiagnosed illness. He touched my life in many ways. I am truly sorry to hear of his passing .

Don was one of the most gracious people I ever knew. Don worked with us for years supporting children and teens to attend our camp where we experienced so many changed lives. Don was one of my greatest personal encouragers during my early years as a camp director. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Evi and their family during this difficult time. Don was a great "good and faithful servant" for our Lord.

I am deeply saddened by Dr. Don's death, and I offer my sincere condolences to Evi and the entire family. He was immensely proud of his family and he followed their daily events, sharing them with me from time to time.
I worked with Dr. Don at the Whitby Mental Health Centre before all the changes there. He was a consummate professional, careful, talented, and respected. He was often quiet, but when he spoke up, everyone listened carefully. His opinion mattered. He helped he, as well, whenever I asked.
After I moved on to the Durham school board, we kept in touch, and discussed psychology, religion, and personal matters, especially our now-adult children. Don and I have been exchanging letters and emails concerning all those topics and more, even as recently as last month. Don listened carefully, thought out issues in depth, and shared his own considered opinion, with the warmth, care and love that was so characteristic of him.
Don was deeply religious and I trust he will be experiencing the eternal with our Lord, But on our earthly plane, here in time and space, he will be sorely missed.
--Dr Bob Quilty

I worked with Don at the Whitby hospital between 1987 and 1990. He always treated me well and I greatly enjoyed his company.

May his memory always be a blessing for all who knew him.

My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Hal Scher

Sending our condolences to Evi, your children and grandchildren.
Don touched our lives in a profound way. When we were struggling to understand, he was the key. He worked with each of my children and had an incredibly kind, patient and spirited nature - creating a genuine connection that we will remember always.

With love,
The Keene Family
