Marshall, John Robert “Jack” Passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, with family by his side on Friday April 19, 2019 in his 88th year. Jack will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Marilyn (nee Leask) of 61 years. Loving father of Patti (Brad), Shari (Kerry), and Jim (Kathy). Dear grandfather to David, Doug, Deanna, Ryan, Samantha, Jesse and Robbie. He will be sadly missed by his extended family and great network of friends. Jack was proud to have grown up in the Cedardale neighborhood of Oshawa and maintained his childhood friends throughout his life. Jack was a respected 40-year employee of General Motors as a Tool and Die Maker. He was an extraordinarily skilled craftsman and continued to work with his hands even after being handicapped by blindness. Jack was noted for his athletic abilities and specially excelled at hockey, baseball, and lacrosse and was a very talented bowler. He loved to fish and hunt, especially with his son and hunting buddies at the family-built cottage on Salmon Lake. In their retirement Jack and Marilyn enjoyed wintering in Panama City Beach, Florida with their many friends, new and old. Everyone adored Jack for his kind, courteous nature, his positive outlook, his great sense of humor and his genuine interest in what people had to say. Jack cherished get-togethers with his family whom he loved very much. As per Jack’s wishes, a gathering to celebrate his life will be held at the COURTICE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1587 Highway #2, Courtice (905-432-8484) on Saturday April 27, 2019 from 1:00p.m – 4:00p.m, with tributes at 3:00p.m. Donations in memory of Jack can be made to the Lakeridge Health Foundation, Emergency and Critical Care.

We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Mr Marshall. We only got to know the Marshall family over the past 8 years as neighbours on Salmon Lake and were so blessed to move beside such warm and welcoming family. In those short years we got to know how remarkable Mr. Marshall was. We were “amateur” cottagers and had no idea what we were doing. I can’t tell you how many times a tool/ part that was in Jack’s shed saved our pump, motor, generator etc.. We marvelled at the fact he could still work so well with his hands, even though he was visually impaired. Jack and Marilyn have always been great friends to our daughter Kate who delighted in their gardens and enjoyed visits with them in the summer. We are heartbroken for the entire Marshall family and our hearts and prayers go out to you. Love Erin, Jim and Kate

Loved getting to know Jack as we began our Snowbirding in PCB. He was always smiling and we took many selfies together!! My sympathy to the family and a special hug for Marilyn. Take care of each other and know Jack is likely doing some great reminiscing with Butch! They sure had some great stories!!
Love Wendy and Ron

Mr. Marshall, always made us smile with his great humorous ways of telling a story.
