

Ronald Wayne Potter was known as many things to many people. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Ronald will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
Ron was born on February 28, 1962 in Scarborough, Ontario. He was the son of Gerald and Flora. Ron grew up in Scarborough.
Ron was raised with three siblings. He had three brothers, Bill, Braden, and Brian. Ron was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his siblings. He and his siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.
As a young boy, Ron had a number of interests. Like most children, he enjoyed playing and making up games. He was curious about the world around him and was often eager to explore it. Ron was an active child who took part in baseball, and racquetball. To Ron, the most fun to be had was simply playing and spending time with his friends.
A typical teenager, Ron had a fairly happy high school experience, making that critical transition from adolescence to adulthood. He graduated from Cedarbrae Collegiate Institute in 1980. He enjoyed some classes more than others, having favorite subjects and teachers.
Ron enjoyed his college years, which may have been a challenge with all of the academics, responsibilities, and the sudden freedom that accompanied them, but Ron was able to manage the balancing act. He earned his degree at Humber College with honours, and in June 1986 he took the Social Service Worker Program. Ron also took a Bartending course in March 1982.
Fortunately, Ron enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Ron worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his career. His primary occupation was Social Worker with the City of Toronto. Ron always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.
Ron enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. His favorite pursuit was baseball umpiring. He was content to enjoy his favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share his interests with others.
Ron found pleasure in sports. In his college years, Ron continued to stay active by playing racquetball. Ron was also something of a sports fan and enjoyed following his favorite events whenever he had the chance to do so. Tops on his list were soccer, football, hockey, and baseball.
Ron enjoyed traveling and time away on vacations. It was a chance for him to renew and relax, to visit new places and experience new things. Favorite vacations included Florida and Bermuda.
Ron passed away on January 30, 2015 at at home, in his own bed, in Courtice, Ontario. Ron suffered for a long period of time with congestive heart failure. He is survived by his brothers, nieces and nephews, and extended family. Services were held at the Courtice Funeral Chapel. Ron was laid to rest with his parents at Resthaven, in Toronto on Saturday, February 7, 2015.
Simply stated, Ronald was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Ron leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Ronald Wayne Potter.

Passed away peacefully at home after a lengthy illness on Friday, January 30th 2015 in his 53rd year. Predeceased by his parents Gerald and Flora Potter; and his niece Mykenna Potter. Loving brother of Bill (Angela), Braden, and Brian (Karen). Dear Uncle of Jordan (Erin), Kyle (Katie), Ryan, Liam, Quinton, Eve, and proud "great" uncle of Audrey and Olivia. Visitation will be held at Courtice Funeral Chapel 1587 Highway 2, 905-432-8484, on Wednesday, February 4th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held in the Chapel on Thursday at 11:00 am. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Children's Wish Foundation.
