Ross came to Ontario as a teenager, and settled in Port Perry with his family. He was fortunate to get a job at General Motors where he worked for 36 years and retired in 1993. Although Ontario was his home he always enjoyed returning to Yarmouth. On one of these visits he met Joyce and they have enjoyed 54 years of marriage. In all those years they only missed 2 summers without a visit. He made many lifelong friends while playing Old Timer’s Hockey and there was always lots of laughter and good times during trips to Myrtle Beach and get togethers at the Griffin cottage with these friends. He faithfully followed the Monday Night GM Office hockey League and in later years somehow managed to get an invitation to their yearend banquets. After retiring, golf became his passion and he played a couple days a week, then would meet the guys for coffee the next morning and play it again!!! He was very proud of the soap box derby car that he built and won trophies every year it ran with many different drivers. He liked to help out around the church keeping the lawns mowed and being the official race car starter for the Junior Youth Group. Even when he could no longer do as much he liked to supervise and earned the nickname “foreman”. Family was very important to Ross and he loved it when they would drop in or have family get togethers at family cottages. Grandson Nathan whom he called Pumpkin was very special and they would always cuddle together even to this day. During his last few months he joined the Seniors Adult Day Program where he made new friends, shared a meal and played games (which he wouldn’t do at home). When he came home he would always have stories to tell about his day. It is comforting that Ross has given us many great memories that will always be with us.
