

As he wished, Walter passed away at home with his family by his side on Monday, September 4th, 2017, in his 83rd year. Loving husband, best friend and childhood sweetheart of Mae Ann Haass (nee Naylor) for over 60 years. Proud Father of Louise (John), Don (Diane), Karen (Don), James (Cindy) and Marla (Jim). Fun loving and cherished Poppa to 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. A pillar of strength to a family that adored him. Brother to Herman (Joan) Haass, Henry and Edward. Dedicated and admired shop foreman at W.R. Chapman Auto Electric in Oshawa for 49 years. Walter won the General Motors North American Trouble Shooter of the Year Award and is known by all in the industry as ‘the best there ever was’. Golfing and travelling buddy to Shirley and Paul Sobil, Ruth and Jim Stainton, Joanne and August Geisberger, Katherine and Art Beevor and Ed Johnson. Walter (aka KAA) enjoyed his time as a Cub and Scout leader. Devoted long time member, Steward and Elder of the Zion United Church. Many thanks to Halina and Alma (VHA) who made every visit fun for Dad and left Walter feeling so much better. Special thanks to Dr. Fuller (GP) and Dr. Osborne and Cassondra (Palliative Care Team) who all took wonderful care of Walter with compassion and support. Visitation will be held at COURTICE FUNERAL CHAPEL 1587 Highway 2, Courtice (905-432-8484) on Friday, September 8th , 2017 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm and from 1:00 pm until time of Celebration of Life service in the chapel at 2:30 pm.
