Anthony (Tony) Nuccio, Jr. passed away on June 30, 2023. God called him suddenly but his family was so grateful they could be with him. Tony leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Cheryn, his son, Tony, his daughter-in-law, Stephanie, and 2 beautiful grandchildren, Claire and Anthony IV. Tony was a loving and thoughtful husband, wonderful father, proud Papere, and great friend. His heart was filled with kindness, generosity, and compassion. He prayed to his Patron Saint, Saint Joseph, always for others who needed help.
Tony served in the Louisiana National Guard for 6 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and Our Lady of Lourdes Church in St. Bernard Parish.
He was considered an outstanding Police Officer and EMT. His commitment and compassion made a difference in so many lives as seen by the awards and heartfelt letters he received from the families he helped.
Tony was a fisherman at heart all his life. He followed his dream of living on the water and sharing our dock with everyone. He was so content when the driveway was filled with trucks, trailers, and pirogues.
Tony had many talents and the greenest thumb. He loved growing plants from seeds. He also spent a lot of time in the kitchen. Even during his struggles with his health, he cooked delicious meals and desserts. That is the kind of person he was.
Most of all, Tony loved his family. He cherished every moment with his grandchildren and adored his daughter-in-law. With tremendous pride he enjoyed every project he accomplished with his son and was grateful to see his own talents continue through his son and his family. Tony loved taking us out in his boat, having fun for hours crabbing and fishing.
His kindness, warm heart, playful sense of humor, and big smile made friends everywhere he would go. We will always remember his big smile and friendly wave.
A Mass celebrating Tony’s life will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church located at 400 Westchester Place, Slidell, Louisiana 70458, on Thursday, November 16, 2023. Reverend Chris Zavackis will preside over the Mass. Visitation will be from 10:00am - 12:00 noon with a Mass following at noon.
In lieu of flowers, we are sure Tony would ask that you consider a donation to the Burbank family. Tony’s Godchild, Jamie Burbank, has a son, his name is Judah and is 4 years old. He was born with VACTERL Syndrome along with other anomalies. He has had multiple surgeries thus far. He is doing well considering, but more surgeries will be necessary in the future.
