

Eugene L. Pereira, Jr., of New Orleans Louisiana, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2026. Born in New Orleans, he was the son of the late Eugene L. Pereira, Sr. and Gloria Una Schoendorf Pereira.
Eugene was a distinguished graduate of John McDonough Senior High School and continued his education at Southeastern Louisiana College before earning his MBA from Loyola University.
His professional career spanned several decades with New Orleans Public Service, Inc., Louisiana Power & Light, and Jefferson Parish, where he made lasting contributions to his community.
A man of service and dedication, Eugene achieved the rank of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America and served as a counselor at both Camp Philmont and Camp Salmen. He was an active member of Kappa Delta Tau Fraternity and Alumni Association and proudly served in the Louisiana National Guard.
Eugene’s passion for the arts led him to serve on the Board of Directors for the New Orleans Summer Pops. He cherished time spent at the beach and was a devoted fan of Jimmy Buffett, embodying that laid-back Gulf Coast spirit in all he did.
He is lovingly remembered by his ex-wife, Sandra Daunie of Mandeville; his daughter Sheri Lemmond and son-in-law Michael Lemmond of Mandeville; his granddaughter Elle Lemmond; his son Todd E. Pereira of New Orleans his brother James P. Pereira and sister-in-law Janice I. Pereira of Manchester, NH; and two nieces.
Eugene’s dedication to service, education, and community, along with his warm spirit and love for life, will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Services will be held privately.
