

A native of New Orleans and Chalmette resident for her teen and early adult years, she was a graduate of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic School, attended one year of high school at St. Mary of the Pines in Chatawa, MS and completed her education at Chalmette High School, Class of 1962. Maribeth was a voracious reader, especially Agatha Christie mystery novels, and she welcomed the challenge of word and letter puzzles. She fully enjoyed accompanying her family on Disney World trips, catching night-after-night of Carnival parades outside St. Stephen Catholic School, exploring new places in Europe or playing Keno with the neighborhood group. She never missed an opportunity to create time for, overspend on and eagerly participate with all the younger generations of her family.
Maribeth is survived by her spouse of almost 58 years, Cyril Guerrera, Jr.; children Darren Guerrera (Mary-Alice) and Jennifer Guerrera Hilderbrandt (Jim); grandchildren Lindsey Garic (Brent), Sam, Ben, Brother Matthew Lalemant (formerly Clay) and John Guerrera, Jacob Hilderbrandt (Maria) and step-granddaughter Ali Hilderbrandt; great-grandchildren Dayton Washington, Carter Buchanan and Waylon Hilderbrandt; brothers William James III (Barbara) and Ronald James (Barbara), and numerous cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents, William James, Jr. and Rosemary Hentze James.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral Mass at Grace Funeral Home, 450 Holy Trinity Drive, Covington LA on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m.
Interment will follow in St. Lazarus of Bethany Memorial Garden Cemetery.
