Mark was the beloved husband of Christina Laurent, married for 30 years. Proud father of Adelaide Laurent, Theresa Orgeron (Roddy Sr.), Anna Krell, and Desiree Laurent. Grandfather of Blatyn Evers, Bailey Evers, Sarah Dupre, Roddy Orgeron, Jr., and Connor Orgeron. Brother of Eddie Laurent (Donna), Linda Laurent, and Theresa Duhon. Mark is also survived by many wonderful family members, friends, and co-workers who will forever cherish his memory.
Mark was a devoted husband and father. He was a loving, quiet man who loved telling stories and writing poems about his journey through life. Mark was a Medical Technologist who retired from Ochsner Medical Center after 38 years of dedicated service. He was born in Plaquemine, LA on April 10th, 1958. As a child, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. As an adult, he loved creating wooden children’s toys, puzzles, and personalized outdoor hanging mobiles. Mark’s wife, Christina, will miss watching him create those mobiles.
We would also like to extend a special thank you to Mark’s caretakers, Jane and Kiara, with BrightCare HomeCare; the nurses with Compassus Hospice; the Ochsner Health ALS team; and all other family, friends and neighbors who were instrumental in caring for Mark during his final months. Mark will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A Memorial Service for Mark will be held on Friday, February 27 beginning at 10:30AM at Grace Funeral Home, followed by a Catholic Service at noon.
Mark’s life was shortened by ALS. In lieu of flowers, and in honor of Mark’s legacy, the family asks that donations be made to the Team Gleason Foundation. Through the foundation’s generosity, Mark received a wheelchair, Eye Gaze technology, and an iPad, which gave him the ability to communicate with his loved ones until the very end.
