Michael George Myatt

21 January, 195324 March, 2021

Michael George Myatt passed away peacefully at his home in Covington, LA on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at the age of 68 after a difficult battle with pancreatic cancer. He was surrounded by his wife and three children. Michael was a native of Syracuse, NY and spent the last 25 years living on the northshore of New Orleans as a ‘converted southerner.’ He graduated from Saint Leo University in Florida with a degree in Sociology and enjoyed a long and successful career as a furniture sales representative, following family tradition. Loving husband of Mary Carol Dasher Myatt. Proud father of Matthew Myatt (William Benton Clark), Gregory Myatt (Cherry Ann), and Jacqueline Brown (Justen). Adoring grandfather of Patrick and Bradley Brown and soon-to-arrive, Rory Myatt. Son of the late George and Mary Myatt. Michael is also survived by his seven siblings & their spouses, his brother-in-law and sister-law, and several nieces and nephews. Michael never met a stranger and knew how to make anyone feel special and loved. In light of that, family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Mandeville, LA on Monday, March 29, 2021 at 12:00 noon. Visitation will begin in church at 10:30 in the morning. Inurnment will follow at St. Lazarus of Bethany Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory to The Jim & Juli Boeheim Foundation are preferred. An online guestbook is available at

Mike and I went to St.Leo college together. Even though I never met his family. He was so proud of them. On the phone is would always speak so proudly of them. We had some great times in college. We were members of the same fraternity. I always loved his laugh. His smile was worth a million. May God bless you and your family. RIP my friend. Love ya the duster.

Dear Mary Carol and family,
I am deeply saddened by Michael’s passing and extend my thoughts and sympathy to all of you. I am Michael’s cousin from East Syracuse (son of Marjorie Myatt, Aunt Margie to Michael) and two years his senior and the same age as John. I fondly remember growing up and making what seemed like the very long trip across Syracuse to the Myatt home on Meadow Brook Drive for holidays with Uncle George and Aunt Mary and their large family of seven children. The holiday dinners were a feast, full of people moving about, and a challenge for me trying to remember all the names of my female cousins. I have since mastered that. Michael, John, and my brother Richard would drift off to a side room to check one another out and connect. I remember these gatherings well among my early experiences growing up in Syracuse. I also often reflect on how special all the Myatt’s treated my mother in her later years living with the Myatt family in Syracuse. May the Lord bless and keep you well.
