

On January 23, 2025, Raymond Almon Durham, 66, beloved husband, father, and "Grumpers" to 12 grandchildren, passed away at his home on the Waddle Creek near Hamilton, CO, with his devoted wife and children by his side, following a six year battle with cancer.
Raymond was born February 7, 1958 in Craig, CO to Almon Lee Durham and Mary "Jeanne" (Osborn) Durham, joining two sisters Cheryl and Kathleen, and raised on the Durham family ranch. He graduated from Moffat County High School class of 1976 and graduated from Northeastern Junior College with an Associate degree in Ag Sciences. Raymond married Starla LaKay Rooker on December 12, 1980, and together, they raised their five children. For 34 years he continued the family business, Durham Livestock Company, while also operating a custom haying operation in Northwest Moffat County. He also established Waddle Creek Lumber, providing rough cut lumber for the community. Raymond enjoyed being outdoors and valued spending time with his family. He will be remembered as a generous, hardworking, playful, kind, honest, strong, and selfless man, with a gentle and quiet spirit. His faith in God carried him through life's greatest challenges.
Raymond was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Harry Sr. and Olive Durham; maternal grandparents Marion and Lila Osborn; his mother Mary "Jeanne" Durham; his father Almon Lee Durham; his stepmother Barbara "Fay" Durham; and his granddaughter Lydia Ruth Huff. He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Starla; his son Sean (Stacy) Durham of Craig, CO and their children Katie and Chantry; his daughter RaeAnne (Adam) Spotts of Cyril, OK and their sons Nolan and Grantlyn; his daughter Stephanie (JT) Huff of Gruver, TX and their children Marshall, Lincoln, Jude, Meredith, Savannah, Phoebe, Brahm, and Janner; his sons Zackery Durham of Craig, CO and Ryan Durham of Hamilton, CO; his sister Cheryl (Kenny) Peed; his sister Kathleen (Jeff) Mitchell; his stepsisters Sheryl Harvey, Pamela (Lyle) Gerber, and Vickie Johnson; and his numerous extended family members.
Please join the family in remembering Raymond. Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 2pm at the Craig Christian Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cancer Society of Moffat County, in care of Grant Mortuary.
