Dick was born on May 24, 1949, in Lawrence, Massachusetts to Robert and Florence Jeannerett. As a young boy, he moved with his mother, Flo, to Craig, Colorado, to be near her sister, Kay—known lovingly in the family as “Aunt Kay.” Dick grew up in Craig and graduated from Moffat County High School in 1967.
In 1965, Dick met the love of his life, Elaine, at a dance in Dixon, Wyoming. The two were married on January 20, 1968, in Craig. Together, they built a life filled with hard work, deep love, and lasting family bonds. They welcomed their first daughter, Kelly Renee Jeannerett, who sadly passed away at birth on January 17, 1969. They went on to have two children: Diana Leigh (Jeannerett) Cobb born April 10, 1970, and Lonnie Dean Jeannerett born April 1, 1971.
Dick was a man of many trades and talents. Early in his career, he helped build the Craig Golf Course and fish hatchery in Browns Park, planted many trees in Gunnison, worked in highway construction, and enjoyed custom haying in the valley. He spent the majority of his career in the oil fields, working in a variety of roles—from rig hand and roustabout to, most notably, production operator.
A true outdoorsman, Dick had a lifelong passion for hunting—both wildlife and Native American artifacts, especially arrowheads. He loved fishing, camping, and simply spending time in nature with his family. Nothing brought him more joy than time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who knew they could always count on Papa to spoil them rotten.
Dick is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Elaine Jeannerett (Romero); his children: Diana (Jack) Cobb and Lonnie (Christina) Jeannerett; his grandchildren: Ashley (Aaron) Dishman; Jacquelyn (Chet) Harvey, Keaton (Karmen) Jeannerett, Tyson (Hailey) Cobb, Trenton (Aivree) Jeannerett, Anniston Jeannerett and Ashton Jeannerett; and his great-grandchildren: Elizabeth and Isabelle Dishman, Rosaleigh and Charlotte Harvey, Graylee and Rook Jeannerett, Stratton and Sawyer Cobb, Elsie Jeannerett; his siblings: Randy (Teri) Reno, Paula (Dick) Sadvar, and Elsie Greenich; sister-in-law Charlene Butler; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Kelly Renee Jeannerett; his father, Robert Jeannerett; his mother, Florence McKee Easley; his paternal grandparents, Howard Jeannerett and Madeleine Farber; and his maternal grandparents, Richard McKee and Margaret “Peggy” Cox; sister and brother-in-law Gloria Slevin and Duane Romero; and many loving aunts and uncles.
Dick’s legacy of love, strength, and devotion to family and the land he loved will live on in all who knew him.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, October 20, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Valley Community Center in Baggs, Wyoming. Burial will follow at the Baggs Cemetery along with a meal at the Valley Community Center
