Born July 4, 1936 in Piper, Kansas, she was the daughter of Stanley John and Lela M. (Hurd) Scott. Her parents preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by twin infant daughters; two sisters, Rosamond and Marjorie and three brothers, Neal, Donald and Kenny.
Surviving are three sons, Michael (Julie) Nelson of Freeport, Mark (Bambi) Nelson and Jeffrey (Pat) Nelson, both of Peoria; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Darlene retired from OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria where she was a nurse’s aide for many years. She previously had worked for Red Lobster in Kansas City.
No services or visitation are planned. Cremation will be accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur.
