Darren was born January 21, 1969 in Pekin to Eddie E. and Lora Jo (Shonk) Wooding.
Surviving are two brothers, James Wooding of Creve Coeur and Eric Wooding of LaPorte, Indiana; and many nieces and nephews.
He graduated from Judson College in 1991 as an English major. While there he was also a member of the hand bell choir. He had just reached 20 years with CubeSmart self-storage in Elk Grove Village, IL, where he was proud to be a General Manager. He took pride in his work and was excellent in customer service. He won many awards and was delighted when he received them.
Darren's journey touched the lives of many, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of strength and resilience. His unwavering spirit in the face of adversity was an inspiration to all who knew him and who will forever hold dear his memory. He will be remembered for his kindness, compassion, humor, and the positive impact he had on everyone fortunate enough to have known him. And his laughter, that was so contagious it could liven up a roomful of people, will echo on and continue to cheer those who treasured him while he was alive.
He loved his dogs, including the late Chloe and his newest best friend Pippie. Darren's interests and talents were many and he applied great energy into learning new things. Among his interests, he enjoyed singing, baking and cooking, knitting and tie dying, and many other DIY activities.
May Darren rest in eternal peace, free from pain, and may his memory continue to bring comfort to those who mourn him.
Darren had a close relationship with his mother, Lora Jo, and he therefore is being buried around a time that would be special to him - his mother's birthday. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 27, 2024 at the Mackinaw Township Cemetery. Pastor John Plunkett will officiate.
Memorial contributions may to Paul Towne Memorial Amvets Post #169, 660 Radio City Drive, North Pekin, Illinois 61554 or Alzheimer’s Association, Central Illinois Chapter, 614 West Glen Avenue, Peoria, Illinois 61614.
