

Born August 22, 1941 in Peoria, he was a son of Clinton and Victoria (Sarkany) Beebe. His parents preceded him in death. He also was preceded in death by two older brothers, James Beebe and Richard “Dick” Beebe and his twin sister, Shari Cole.
Surviving are one son, Charles Wesley “Wes” (Joanie) Martin of Ocala, Florida; one grandson, Tanner (Ashley) Martin; one sister, Marla Carter of Pekin; one half brother, Perry (Debbie) Beebe of Creve Coeur and several nieces and nephews.
Gary was a 1959 graduate of East Peoria Community High School.
A United States Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War, Gary attained the rank of sergeant. He was a member of Martin-Courtney Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4835 in Creve Coeur.
Gary dedicated 30 years of service to the Village of Creve Coeur. He spent his first five years with the police department and the last 25 years with the street department, retiring in 2003 as superintendent.
Gary enjoyed riding Harley Davidson motorcycles, owning his many corvettes and fishing. He was also fortunate to have been on the Greater Peoria Honor Flight in 2024, accompanied by his niece, Karolyn, who served as his escort—an experience that held special meaning and recognition for his service.
His graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2026 at War Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Pekin. Pastor John Plunkett will officiate. Military rites will be accorded by the United States Marine Corps and the Tazewell Military Rites Team. There will be no visitation. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur.
