Casimiro Joe Romero

Casimiro Joe Romero of St. Albans left this world on Tuesday April 25, 2017. He was born in Wichita KS on April 23, 1954. He was 63 years old. At the end of his life he was surrounded by those who loved him, His children, grandchildren, ex-wife and current love all sat with him as he spent his final days. In the end we believe he knew how loved he was. Joe grew up in the streets of Chicago where he learned the survival skills that only a life lived in the street can teach you. By his side for most of his life was his brother, Tony (Rico) who passed away several years ago. His was not a life lived exemplarily but it was a life lived as he chose. If you knew him you knew he could be kind and generous, he has housed, fed and clothed more than his fair share of those whom others had thrown away, he understood them. Of all the things he did in his life, what he was proudest of were his children. They all grew up to live a different life than he did. That was his only wish and he saw it come true. He loved his grandchildren. Nothing gave him more pleasure than to have his family around him. For his kids poker games “Romero Style” will never be the same. He made his peace with God and he believed that he would go to a better place and was ready. He is survived by his partner, Isabelle Staats, Children: Cassandra (Anthony) DiBenedetto of Sacramento, CA. Jessica (Brian Felty) Brown of Charleston, SC. Justin (Nicole) Romero of Orlando, FL, Ashley Romero of Cross Lanes, WV, James Michael Romero(Jacquline Pittman)of Charleston, SC, Casimiro Jose (CJ) (Samantha) Romero of Orlando, FL, Dustin A. (Granville) Chaney of Hurricane, WV and Samantha Wilczak Johnson of Ottowa, OH, 9 grandchildren and Sister Toni (Craig) Edens of Sissonsville, WV, Brother Michael Romero of Brockway Penn and many nieces and nephews. HE was loved and valued. He was our father and we will miss him. A celebration of Joe’s life will be 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at Casdorph & Curry Funeral Home, 110 B Street, St. Albans. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
