Doris Pauline Stalnaker

She was born May 23rd 1931 to William Ernest Roach and Christine Anna Neal. She worked at the Valley Bell in her teenage years, she also worked as a care giver and at the Civic Center. She had a passion for books and reading. She created and maintained the Library at Dunbar Mountain Mission. She also had a love for cooking and making candy. She made peanut butter Easter eggs to raise money for Dunbar Mountain Mission, and enjoyed making mints for numerous weddings and events.

She was recently preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 69 years Tommy Mason Stalnaker, and her beloved chihuahua Ginger. She was left as the last of her siblings to be on this earth and dearly missed brothers, Ernest Roach, Louis Roach and sisters, Byrda Reck, Fern Hubert, Leonora Holland, Alice Holley, Margaret Tucker and her short lived twin sister Dora Colleen Roach.

Doris left behind 4 sons, Doug and Kathy Stalnaker of Elkview, WV, Bob and Sue Stalnaker of Tampa, FL , Roger Stalnaker of Glasgow, WV, and David and Beverly Stalnaker of Cross Lanes. She also left behind 5 grandchildren Christy and Danny Monaco of Tampa, FL, Bill Stalnaker of Cross Lanes, Lahnna and Justin Morton of San Diego, CA, Justin and Kim Stalnaker of Norfolk, VA, and Jeffrey Stalnaker of New York, NY. Great grandchildren Caitlyn Adams of Tampa, FL, Bella Monaco and Evie Monaco of Tampa, FL, Sylus Stalnaker of Norfolk, VA, and William Morton of San Diego, CA, also great great granddaughter Mia Adams of Tampa, Fl. Doris also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and cousins. With special thanks to her nieces Shirley Bowling and Carol Burgess for spending time with her in her last years. And a very special thanks to her longtime friend and hairdresser, Sharon Myland.

Graveside Service will be at 11:00am Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.
