Born September 6, 1933 he was the youngest child of Ransford Herman Cavender and Ola Mae Cavender who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his sister Betty Jane Daniels, and wife Gertrude Mae Blessing Cavender his sweetheart of 62 years.
He is survived by his three children James Cavender Jr., Barney (Sue) Cavender, Wendy (Mark) Pauley and two grandchildren, Sarah (Chris) Mills and Allie Cavender.
Jim was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He was employed by Union Carbide, Woodrum’s Furniture Store, and Boll Furniture.
He was a member of McKinnon Presbyterian Church and the Tyler Mt. community with his wife for many years. Jim loved West Virginia Basketball, painting pictures, and writing poems along with telling stories about his family and friends.

Interment will follow at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Tyler Mountain Funeral Home 5233 Rocky Fork Rd., Cross Lanes, WV 25313, is assisting the Cavender family.
