
James Edward Hiller, 68, of Belvidere, N.C., formerly of Poca and St. Albans, passed away Dec. 16, 2014 after a long battle with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. Jim was a veteran of the United States Air Force, West Virginia Air National Guard and served his country in the Vietnam War. A graduate of South Charleston High School and West Virginia State University, he retired from Sentera Obici Hospital and was formerly employed at PB&S Chemical and M&P Technologies. Jim was a member of Southside Baptist Church, Suffolk, Va. He was also active in the Putnam County Gun Club, West Virginia State Rifle and Pistol Association, NRA, American Legion, DAV and an avid hunter. Preceding him in death were his parents, Glenn and Mary Louise Hiller; father-in-law, Harvey Lyons; and sister-in-law, Connie Hiller. Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Sharon Lyons Hiller (NC); daughters, Lisa Black (Randy) (Ohio), Tina Stokel (Ralph) (NC); granddaughter, Brianna Blankenship (NC); brother, Tom Hiller (VA); mother-in-law, Laurene Lyons (Red House, WV); sister-in-law, Shirley Devers (Jay); brother-in-law, Gary Lyons (Carma), Roger Lyons (Sandra); and several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and -nephews. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Monday, Dec. 22, at Casdorph and Curry Funeral Home, St. Albans. Immediately following will be a graveside service at Cunningham Memorial Park with Dr. Matthew Lyons and the Rev. David Panaro Jr. officiating, along with military graveside rites to be conducted by St. Albans VFW 6418 and American Legion Post 73. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Southside Baptist Church, 917 Carolina Road, Suffolk, VA 23434 or Alzheimer's Association, 3739 National Drive, Suite 110, Raleigh, NC 27612.
