

He was born October 22, 1935 in Charleston the son of Holley and Fannie Parsons. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by siblings, Holley Jr., Gene, Rosemary, Curtis, Glenn, Carol and his son, Alan.
John lived his whole live in Kanawha County. He graduated from Charleston High School Class of 1953. He later earned an Associate Degree in music from WVSU. John married his bride Bessie Kincaid on October 18, 1958. Shortly thereafter he was drafted into the US Army where he served two years. Upon returning to Charleston, he was employed as a welder by Union Carbide. Later he was employed by the USPS as a mail carrier where he retired in 2001 with 37 years of service. Later he worked several years at Central Parking Systems in Charleston.
John was a devoted Christian. You rarely saw him without a book in his hand. He enjoyed leading the singing and teaching Sunday School in the various churches he and Bessie served in over the years. Most recently they attended West Albans Church of God in St. Albans for the last 30 years. Anyone that knew John, knew him as a kind, soft spoken man that loved his Lord and his family.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 60 years, Bessie, son, Timothy and his wife Amanda (Tope), daughter in law, Nancy Russell Parson, granddaughter, Crystal Hays and her husband David, grandsosn, William and Walker, and brother, Charles Parsons.
Celebration John’s life will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at Casdorph & Curry Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Morris and Rev. Sharon Farley officiating. Burial will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans, with Military Graveside Rites to be conducted by St. Albans VFW Post 6418 and American Legion Post 73.
Gathering of family and friends will be from noon until time of service at the funeral home.
