He was a life long heavy equipment operator for various companies in WV and SC. He worked alongside his brothers, son and nephews during his 40 plus years of paving and constructing the roads and interstates of WV. Retiring from WV paving in 1999 he enjoyed fishing and riding his 4 wheeler, but his greatest joy was the large garden he grew each summer to share with his friends and church family at Second Creek Community Church where he was a faithful member.
Preceding him in death is his wife of 41 years, Evie Delores and infant son, Robert William Comer; parents, Henry and Alma Comer Jeffries; brothers, James and Ben H. Comer; sisters, Mary Brown, Myrtle Wilkinson Skeens and Naomi Dunlap.
Siblings that survive Robert are Jackie Q., Frank D. and Eugene Comer all from Sissonville; sisters, LouElender Rice of Winfield and Virgie Dawson of Poca.
He was the husband of Arbutus Wolfe-Comer and beloved daddy to Robbie Joe Comer (Michelle), Robin Louann Bailey (Howard) both of Cross Lanes and Rachelle Dawn Lovett (John) of Clarksville, TN.
He was blessed with 8 grandchildren, Christopher and Cindy Comer of Myrtle Beach, SC, Caden Comer, Tori Bailey and Kedron Vrabel of Cross Lanes, Michael Bircheat, Christine Murphy and Mechele Daniels all of Clarksville, TN; 9 great-grandchildren, Tyler, Adyson, Braxtyn, Tucker, Caroline, Ryker, Annabelle, Gabriel and Brooklyn.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 4, 2018 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Tyler Mountain Funeral Home, 5233 Rocky Fork Road, Cross Lanes, WV.
Service will be Thursday, July 5, 2018 at 11:00am with Leroy Conners and Jack Comer officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes with Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post 187, Winfield.
