

Born on Nov. 26, 1942 in Charleston, WV, he was the son of William Ernest VanCamp and Janet Beatrice (Bea) VanCamp from Cross Lanes, WV. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his sibling Kenneth VanCamp of Charlotte, NC. Bill is survived by his wife Joyce VanCamp, sister Ann Breen (Spouse Bob) of Tampa, FL, brother Donny VanCamp (Spouse Shirley) & Kenneth VanCamp’s Spouse Donna of Charlotte, NC.
Bill was a devoted father to Melissa (Missi) Bowman (Spouse Greg, Children Tyler, Haley Engel (RJ), & Ryan), William (Bill) VanCamp III (Spouse Karlina, Children Karson & Barrett). Stepchildren, Tom Duffer, Scott Duffer (Children Emma & Eli), and Kevin Duffer (Children Brittain (Great Grandson Elijah) & Irelan).
A proud veteran, Bill honorably served in the US Navy from 1962 to 1965. He was stationed at the White House and aboard the USS Boxer during the 1965 Dominican Republic intervention. His sense of duty and patriotism continued throughout his life.
Bill was a 1962 graduate of Nitro High School and worked 38 years for Black & Decker Corporation.
Bill enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, he cherished the time watching baseball games, cheerleading competitions, and countless birthday parties for his nine grandchildren. He will be remembered most for his story telling, funny jokes and ability to strike up a conversation anywhere with anyone, he never met a stranger and loved talking with people.
Celebration of William’s life will 1:00 P.M. Thursday, March 26, 2026 at Tyler Mt. Funeral Home with Pastor Richard Thompson officiating. Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by St Albans VFW Post 6418 and American Legion Post 73.
Gathering of family and friends will be from noon until time of service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
The family extends heartfelt appreciation to CAMC Vandalia Health for their compassionate care and support.
He will forever be loved, honored, and remembered.
