Constantine “Gus” Kratunis of Bellerose, NY passed away peacefully with family by his side on Sunday April 18th 2021 after a long journey with chronic leukemia. He kept his journey private and defied the odds, staying strong and keeping his sense of humor to his final day.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, then Franklin Square, NY, Gus was a Brooklyn Dodger, NY Mets and NY Giants fan and if he wasn’t watching sports he was sure to be watching a movie on TMC – he loved the classics, including John Wayne westerns. He also kept well informed on local, national and international news and loved history. Conservative and traditional, Gus was in the Naval Reserves and was a fierce supporter of the brave women and men who fight for this country – active, veteran and law enforcement.
Gus was never far from his computer. An IT specialist by profession, he was an early adopter of anything electronic, especially computers and the “internet” and enjoyed troubleshooting any complex IT issue, even offering his help while in his doctor’s office! He was quite the handyman as well, and had every gadget imaginable for any job imaginable.
Gus was predeceased by his beloved wife Mary Elizabeth and his 2 brothers Evangelos and George. The 3 brothers along with their sister Despina were always known for their joking around and love of family. Gus is survived by his twin sister Despina Veloudos and many nieces, nephews and grand-nieces & nephews who loved being around “Uncle Gus”. May his memory be eternal.
