Josephine K. Pelczar, originally of Philadelphia, PA, Ardsley, NY, and most recently from Croton on Hudson, NY, passed away on April 11, 2018 at the age of 101. Josephine was born in Philadelphia, PA to Albert and Mary (Stossel) Ciesielka on September 19, 1916. She worked for Isserman and Isserman , where she designed the feather arrangements for the Mummer’s Day costumes. Later, she designed hats for the finest stores in Philadelphia and New York. Josephine was an active member of St. Hedwig’s Parish in Philadelphia. She enjoyed her friends and the trips they took together as members of the Parish Social Club. She loved family summers in Wildwood and Cape May, NJ, and Fire Island, NY. Josephine married her beloved husband Frank P. Pelczar, Sr., in 1937. They were married for 49 years until his passing in December of 1983. They are survived by their son Frank P. Pelczar, Jr. and daughter Catherine Wissner and her husband Allan; and by their granddaughters Jennifer Wissner and her husband Jesse Rucco, Bonnie Wissner and Luke Adair, and by Rebecca Wissner and her husband Michael Witten. Josephine was also predeceased by her siblings Stanley Ciesielka, Thomas Ciesielka, Victoria Rajca, and Helen Wojciechowicz. She is survived also by the many nieces and nephews of the Ciesielka and Pelczar families.
A Graveside service will be celebrated for Josephine on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 11am, Holy Cross Cemetery, 626 Baily Rd., Yeadon, PA 19050. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery office.
